Except you have spiritual protection from God or any other means, once they mark you, if is bye bye or sorry becomes your name.

Stop this ignorant way of reasoning. Most of y'all Nigerians don't take your health serious and wouldn't even go to the clinic until it's extreme! You'd rather go to a roadside pharmacy to buy drugs without diagnosis or prescription from a physician.

I don't pity many of you!

It was so pathetic and unexplainable when I lost of of my younger brothers exactly 3 moths and a day today, who happened to be in his penultimate year as a medical student in one of the Federal Universities in Nigeria.

It's well. May God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss. Is not an easy thing...

All the informations in your post are unnecessary. Many students die at their penultimate year in school. Many medical students die, nothing special about your brother's.

If you had alleged that the death was due to negligence or unprofessionalism by the health workers, I would have taken you more serious.

We all should take care of our health and be very observant and careful too.

We don't regards health matters in this part of the world and it's very very bad.

Yesterday evening, a young vibrant guy of about 26-28 years just slumped in Nkwo Market Nnewi. His market line folks thought it was all jokes and plays and were playfully asking him to go and eat before he faints oo.

Not knowing the poor guy had already kicked the bucket. After a few minutes he didn't get up, he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival!

Everyone should be careful and mindful of their health.

Nigerians prefer to post about your death than help you at emergencies.

Health Care in Nigeria is Zero

and we are thinking of voting in two men who had looted the Nation in the past and going for part two for looting

The government should focus more on Primary Health Care! They should equip those Primary Health Care Centres to modern standards for citizens and residents to have easy and fast access to medical care.

I see no reason why people should go to Teaching Hospitals or General Hospitals always. They end up crowding the place and those places are understaffed already.

Stop being ignorant, boy!

Him being a medical student doesn't mean he took his health serious. I'm not negating the probability but nobody is sure. I only made my comment based on the fact about Nigerians as regards health.

It's not as if I'm blaming the strike for his death but I've this strong feeling that if schools were in session, he would have been alive. Who knows? Frustration may have contributed to his death together with lack of money. People are really going through alot.

What kind of comment is this?

How can lack of money kill a food vendor?

If you are sick and there's no money to take care of the sickness, won't you attribute lack of money as a factor? Moreover, lack of money wasn't the only thing I mentioned. Alot of things may have contributed to his death.
According to the story, he died as a result of brief illness. Did they tell you the type of illness? People are really going through alot my brother. A popular proverb says, 'all the lizards are lying with their stomach down but there's no way you can tell which one is having a bellyache".

Umar Idris, chairman of the 21st Century Entrepreneurship Center and a close associate of the deceased, confirmed this on Saturday. Idris said the deceased was buried according to Islamic ceremonies in his hometown of Rimi, in the Rimi district of Katsina state.

He described the deceased as a humble man, a dedicated student and entrepreneur.

According to the late Katsina, he was the state coordinator of the 21st Century Entrepreneurs Hub in 2019 and he actively participated in coordinating global entrepreneurial activities in 2020.

The deceased also coordinated a conference for young CEOs in Katsina, the largest CEO conference in Katsina in 2019 and 2020, as well as several other skill-building trainings, he added.

During Abubakar-Rimi's leadership, his 21st Century Entrepreneurs Hub in Katsina said he empowered about 1,000 women and young people with his skills in various businesses. In an exclusive interview with NAN on Sept. 9, the deceased recalled that ongoing industrial action by the ASUU gave him the opportunity to start a grocery business.

The deceased also told NAN that he took advantage of the COVID-19 lockdown period to start an egg and chicken distribution business.

Many educated illiterates on here!

Do you even know the meaning of greed? University teachers shouldn't be paid their deserved money? Do you know the reason why strike happens/happened? They should forfeit their dues because of their students? Don't they also have kids at home?

And was ASUU the reason many students are involved in drugs, fraud, unwanted pregnancies, no working healthcare system, bad economy, etc.?

Channel your energy to your Senators, Rep. Members, Governor and President. And don't forget your Local Government Chairman.

Three things were revealed in that story.
One, he was a final year medical student.
Two, he decided to engage in other side hustle.
Three, he died after a brief illness. No details was given as result to the kind of illness.
Which leads us to the earlier submission, if the strike wasn't embarked on would he still be alive? Alot of factors could contribute to that brief illness which resulted in his death - depression as a result of frustration, frustration as a result of staying at home or may be terminal disease.
In summary, I was trying to say that strike may be or may not be responsible for his death.

Some pharmacies offer better primary healthcare than some hospitals. The problem is that most of those Nigerians who self medicate patronize quacks who go by the name patent medicine dealers. Even when they go to pharmacies, they don't seek professional advice from the pharmacists before buying drugs.

Pharmacy curricula in most schools in Nigeria train very sound pharmacists who are well rounded in not only drugs but primary healthcare generally, but these intelligent pharmacists are underutilized due to ignorance. This is despite that they don't usually charge any consultation fees!

We need to restructure the health sector. As long as we don't have standard Primary Health Care Centres, many will continue patronizing roadside pharmacies and that will lead to continuous self-medication because they are buying drugs with no diagnoses and physician prescription.

Primary Health Care is what Nigeria should work on. An average citizen have nothing to do at Teaching Hospitals or General Hospitals always except it's a must to consult a specialist.

I agree with you that we need to revamp primary healthcare in the country for wider coverage, but stop referring to pharmacies as "roadside". They are primary care providers as well and most of them I know are doing very well.
The problem is with poor health seeking attitude of some Nigerians who seldom utilize the knowledges of our professionals even when offered free of charge
