The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Dikko Inde Abdullahi on Thursday disclosed that the service had collected N1.14trillion revenues in the last two years.
He explained that the Customs adopted a revenue strategy which includes identifying and blocking revenue leakages in the system, setting up Special Duty Investigation Teams, System Alert Unit in Headquarters for closer monitoring and automation of all Customs Procedures from manifest submission of cargo release.
This, according to him, led to the collection of total revenue of N662.15billion into the Federation Account, and N475.46 billion into the Non Federation Account from August 2009 and 2011.
He spoke at Abuja during an interactive session with journalists. The session was organised as part of activities marking his two years in office.
His words: “We adopted a revenue enhancement strategy which includes identifying and blocking revenue leakages in our system, setting up of Special Duty in Headquarter Teams, the establishment of a System Alert Unit in Headquarters for close monitoring and the automation of all Customs Procedures from manifest submission to cargo release.
“This resulted into the collection of total revenue of N662.15billion into the Federation Account, and N475.46billion into the Non-Federation Account from August 2009 to date. This makes a total of over N1.14trillion into both accounts in two years,” Abdullahi added.

Needless to say, that is a sh1tload of money.

If/when this "resource control" stuff happens, customs revenue needs to be a part of the discussion.

What did they do with it? i believe this is the one they declare, what about the rest?
