On 2023 Presidential Elections, Who Takes Over From Buhari?? by Vintage100(m): 9:16am On Oct 20, 2022
Political observers and analysts have expressed their views on the 2023 presidential election as the election approaches. There are four major contenders who will slug it out among themselves to know who takes over the baton of leadership from president Muhammadu Buhari in 2023. Here is my analysis on the possible winner. The president Muhammadu Buhari's APC-led administration have not done well to the admiration of Nigerians especially in the aspect of security and economy, the security situation of the country is appalling as it seems the security operatives are incapacitated and bereaved of ideas on the way to bring the situation under control. Economically, things are not fine, even though there are developmental projects completed and embarked upon by this Administration, an average Nigerian believes that the prices of essential commodities like food, clothing and rent should be the benchmark to assess a performing administration. The foregoing will mostly work against the candidature of Asiwaju Tinubu as the flagbearer of the ruling party. The PDP should benefit from the mal-administration of APC by convincing the electorate on the need to oust the ruling party at the polls next year, but the opposition party is divided as this is not 2019 when the LP candidate was in the party. The internal wrangling of the opposition party isn't a plus for them too unless drastic measures are taken to pacify the aggrieved members (Nyesom Wike and his group).
Although Peter Obi is brewing like a storm as the movement keeps expanding daily, but he may not ganer the required votes to occupy the number one seat in the country. Here is the breakdown of how the candidates may fair in each zone.

North East: Being the zone where the PDP candidate hails from, Atiku is expected to win here but with slide margin owing to the influence of the Senate president, Borno governor and vice presidential candidate of the ruling party who all hailed from the same geo-political zone.

North West: Being the zone with the highest number of voters, the four major candidates will not like to joke with anything that will influence their votes here. Although the cult-like following of the president by the electorates from this zone will favour the APC candidate a bit and also the influence of APC governors who are in majority here, but Musa Kwankwazo's influence cannot be overlooked as he enjoys the love of electorates in Kano and Jigawa states, so it is expected that APC may not win here as being speculated. Also the North West being part of the core North will favour Atiku to some extent.

North Central: This is a Christian dominated zone if I'm correct, the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party will likely complicate things for APC here as the Christian's in this zone will divide their votes between PDP and LP, I expect Atiku to win here follow closely by Peter Obi while Tinubu comes a distant third though APC may win massively in Kwara.

South West: This is Tinubu's strong hold and the zone with the second highest number of voters in the country. Although sentiment is expected to play out here, the PDP will come second owing to their recent victory in Osun and the fact that it is the ruling party in Oyo state. The APC is expected to win in Lagos, but its influence will be cut down by Peter Obi's Labour Party no doubt about that, intact APC isn't expected to win with wide margin in Lagos. Conclusively, the ruling party will carry the day in this zone.

South South: It is expected that the LP will win in this zone as it is considered the second strong hold of Peter Obi but the fact is LP may not win here because traditionally the zone is being won by the PDP and since the PDP controls five out of the six states definitely it is expected to win while Peter Obi of LP comes second but very close to the PDP

South East: This is a no go area for the ruling party because even in 2019 it was able to ganer little votes here. 90% of the votes here should have gone to the PDP come 2023, but the defection of Peter Obi from the main opposition party is a bad omen for the PDP. Being the son of the soil, Peter Obi of LP is expected to win with wide margin in this zone.

From the foregoing, and barring last minutes change in the scheme of things which is expected as there are meant to be alignment and re-alignment in politics I can deduce that, Atiku Abubakar of PDP may win the 2023 presidential election.
