The rainy season in Nigeria was especially harsh in 2022, with heavy rains producing deadly, destructive floods in numerous states. In October, flooding in the country’s south submerged homes and farmland, and displaced hundreds of thousands of people.

Emergency management agencies reported that floodwater in Anambra has displaced more than 600,000 people. The flooding has also been deadly. On October 7, a boat capsized and killed dozens of people trying to escape rising waters.

Severe flooding has also affected other parts of Nigeria throughout the 2022 rainy season, which generally spans April to October. In the northeast, outbreaks of cholera are being attributed to water sources that have been contaminated by floodwater.

According to news reports, the flooding in Nigeria this year was the worst on record since 2012.

Toward the top of the image, floodwater had inundated numerous communities along the banks of both rivers. Near their confluence, floodwater inundated Lokoja, the capital city of the state of Kogi. Flooding continued to the south, including a noticeably widespread area spanning southern Kogi and the northern part of Anambra state. The natural-color images below show a detailed view near this area. They were acquired by the Operational Land Imager-2 (OLI-2) on Landsat 9 on June 12 and October 2, 2022.

A serious government will do something and suspend campaigning for now . These floods should be a deciding factor on who are the next governors of these states affected and even the presidency. If your area are affected and your governor is very quiet or is very unbothered, please think very well when you vote on the next gubernatorial election comes. Remember when your area is flooded and how your governor was missing in action, when it ia time to vote. When will Buhari and Osinbajo visit the affected part? May God help Nigeria. Any governors that are trying today or helping out deserves to be reelected.

What about the religious establishments? Why are they so quiet in times of great humanitarian needs? For those are not quiet and helping, then God bless those who are helping. Please pay attention to the so called big time Pastors, Imam and the so called annointed. Their actions will tell if they practise what they preach.

What are the Nigerian army and Navy doing? You are suppose to be rescuing people and helping out. The head of army or naval head should be ordering out a platoon to help out the flood victims. You suppose to use your naval boats and ships to help out the flood victims, you have the manpower and the resources. The boats are not there for decoration. And If they are helping then God bless them.

Celebrities are quiet too. Are there anyone helping out? TImaya and ko are you not from the Bayelsa state, Lokoja and the affected region or state? Why not use your fame for a noble course? No one is perfect but they can start 2day. Anyone who is famous and they are from the region should use their platform on social media to do something. If you can even buy one bag of rice and donate it, it is better than doing nothing. To any celebrities or famous person that are helping and donating , God bless you all. If you are famous and you are helping but you prefer to be quiet, God bless you too
