NAPPS Day 2022: Celebrations, Teacher Wins Saloon Car, As Proprietors Receive Awards and Prizes.

In celebration of the 2022 Teachers' Day, the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, (NAPPS) Lagos state chapter, on Wednesday marked its annual jamboree.

Themed "Changing role of private schools in providing state of learning environment", this year's NAPPS Day was one celebrated in grand style.

While speaking with journalists at the event, the Lagos NAPPS President, Chief Amusa M.T Olawale, explained that, "NAPPS Day is a day set aside by the joint National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools with endorsement by the ministry of education to evaluate, appraise, and celebrate with the private school owners and of course teachers within the association".

The President revealed further that, "NAPPS Day is celebrated as a result of stigmatisation from the society, as government sectors treat us as second class citizens in our chosen profession. Most people believe that teachers' reward is in heaven, despite serving on earth. These and many more were the reasons, we deserve to appreciate ourselves in this little way".

"We need more of this because the teaching profession is indeed the pivot upon which other professions rotate and flourish. We want to prove to those concerned that teachers are noble, respected, and fulfilled people", Amusa said.

He added that, "Although renumeration of salaries and rewards may be meagre but they had taken solace in the success of the learners and the association is putting measure in place by securing 120 plots of land tagged NAPPS Estate Phase 1 to support our members. While the foundation laying of NAPPS conference complex will commence before end of this month".

Amusa noted that, "Several awards, consolation prizes and gifts were given to dedicated school owners, especially teachers for this year's celebration. Prizes like saloon equipments, SUV cars for the star prize, half plot of land for the second runner up, and 3.5 KVA generator for the third prize".

While commenting on the event, Dr Abdulwasiu O. Adumadeyin, the Emeritus President, Lagos NAPPS, congratulated the present leadership of Lagos NAPPS, school owners, teachers and organizing committee who had ensured that this year's event was colourful and memorable".

Adumadeyin, who is a proprietor of Waslat Private School in Lagos State, said, "The state government should put on commitment and concerned more about private school owners in the state by supporting us with funds".

He added that, "This is a body supporting and contributing to the educational development of the state".

The General Secretary, NAPPS Lagos, Alaka Yusuf Lukman said, this year's NAPPS Day is the beginning of greater things for us in the education sector.

According to him, NAPPS Day "is a way for us to remember that as school owners, we belong to an association which cares about our professional, moral and social wellbeing. We are wired professionally to ensure that, the Nigerian Children are indeed nutured for National Development."

Alaka used the occasion to congratulate National President Chief Yomi Otubela, for his steadfastness leadership style which has ushered in a new government at the Southwest zone of the Association.

While appreciating the advisory council role for unflinching support and timely interventions have been overwhelming in the last two years

He commends, the roles of the chapter chairpersons, ward leaders their overwhelming support to the state in achieving success in the UTE Examinations and other Programmes.

Musical Maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, was among other prominent awardees.

Meanwhile, Mr Umunakwe Goodness Chigozie won saloon car from First Apex schools Alagbado, Alimosho Lagos as the most dedicated teacher of the year.

Dr comfort Otegbeye, the Vice President Lagos NAPPS gives a vote of thanks.
