A Bible Study by Prince Gabriel Okocha

What does the Bible has to say about seeing believers in Hell or missing the rapture in dreams and visions? Are such dreams and visions messages or warnings from God to help us straighten our paths in order to “make” heaven?
Over and over again, Video Cloning App we have seen and heard people claim to have received a special vision from God in which they saw a fellow believer in Christ, sometimes a very faithful one, end up in Hell for any reason at all.

For instance in 2012, a lady came out to say she saw Archbishop Benson Idahosa in hell and it was materialism that “took” him there. The same lady claimed in her visions she saw other believers either in or on their way to hell because they wore make-ups, weavons, trousers (for ladies), rings and other jewelries (including wedding rings), kept long hairs and long nails.

Every now and then, people (especially those who claim to have died and came back to life) always come up with visions of a Hellfire crowded with believers or an almost empty heaven (with very few Christians).
What should be a Christian’s disposition in the midst of all these? How should a Christian treat such visions of believers in hell?
First, you need to understand what the Bible has to say about believers being condemned to hell.

Joh 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
1Jn 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

John 5:24 and 1 John 3:14 is very very clear on the fact that the believer in Jesus has passed from death to life. The word translated as “death” in those verses is the greek word “thanatou”
“Thanatou” is not only used to imply physical death, it is also used to imply “eternal separation from God and utter destruction” which we call “second death or “hell.”
Now read those verses again and notice how John puts the probability of a believer experiencing such to be in the past when he has not yet believed or received salvation. He said the believer SHALL NOT come into condemnation anymore. Why? Because the issue of his eternal destination has been settled once and for all. He HAS PASSED from death(hell) to Life.

In other words, the one who has believed in Jesus’ sacrifice for himself has no chance of ending up in Hell. He has long passed that level or stage. He is in a place now where Hell can never ever have a hold on him.

Ephesians 2:5-6 said he is seated in the Heavenly places in Christ Jesus today. Not tomorrow or after his physical death.
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are savedwink
Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus
He is a citizen of heaven, not a candidate aspiring to go there. He came from there, it’s his place of origin. A place where he has to go back as soon as he exits this earth.
Eph 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God

He (the believer) is joined to Christ, wherever Christ is is where he is. Where the believer goes is where Christ goes.

1Co 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
Not only is the believer joined to Christ, he is also joined in the Spirit to other believers. Where one goes is where others will go.
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

So to say that you saw a believer (a man who has received Salvation) in hell, is like saying you saw ALL believers in hell. We are so knitted together that our eternal destinies are intertwined, where one goes is where all goes.

If this is true, why then do people see such visions of believers going to hell for any reason?
The answer is simple. It is due to the kind of teaching they have been exposed to.

The human mind is so powerful that it can project whatever teaching you constantly feed it to your dreams and visions. This is why the scriptures encourages us to constantly renew our minds to the truths of God’s word, so we don’t end up missing out on the dividends of salvation.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
As you constantly renew your mind to the laid out truths of God’s eternal salvation in the scriptures, you will start having only real godly dreams and visions of heaven or hell.

Eternal death is not the destiny of the man in Christ. He has been saved from it forever. And that is not because he will always get his acts right, it is simply because Jesus has paid the ultimate price for him not to go there anymore. Don’t let any dream, vision or messages of believers going to hell fool you. Heaven is your home as a Christian and you are going there.
I hope this blesses you!

Glory to God, glory to our saviour and king!

1. I am afraid you are mistaken as far as your convenient interpretation of that which John wrote in his letter there to those who are already believers in Jesus Christ - not unbelievers.

In the teachings of Jesus Christ, passing from "death" to "eternal life" simply means one is no longer condemned to perish in the grave - Genesis 3 vs 19 - 22 under God's former judgment. Jesus Christ revealed this in John 3 vs 16 - 21 where He explained that all those who believe in Him will no longer perish in the grave - cease to exist when they die as a result of not having eternal life/after life - but will instead have eternal life. Jesus Christ explained that those who believe and are born-again as a result gain access into the Kingdom of God - John 3 vs 1 - 8 - through either of two gates - A broad gate which leads to destruction(Hellfire) and a Narrow Gate which leads to true life(Heaven) in Matthew 7 vs 13 - 14 & Luke 13 vs 22 - 30 - indicating that even after obtaining eternal life from Him, one stands the risk of spending that eternity in either of eternal reward(Heaven) or eternal damnation(Hellfire) - Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46. undecided

What does this all invariably mean? It means that Heaven is not guaranteed to all those who are born-again and have Eternal life as a result, even though they have escaped from Death(Genesis 3 vs 19 - 22) and passed on to Eternal life(John 3 vs 16 - 21) by their belief in Jesus Christ. An understanding of the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ is required in order to understand what is written in the letters of the apostles. undecided

2. Wrong! All of those who will end up in Hellfire are all of them born-agains because except a man be born-again, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God - John 3 vs 1 - 8 - where Heaven(Eternal Reward) and HellFire(Eternal Damnation) are both located in - Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46. This is as declared by the Lord and King over Heaven and over Hellfire, Jesus Christ. undecided

3. Mental renewal is not unique to those who belief in God. it is a recommendation given even to those who are undergoing mental stress of mental illness of any kind. So don't expect such exercises to get you into God's Heaven at all. What Jesus Christ told you instead is that the only way is through continuous submission and obedience to His teachings and commandments, God's Law, and Truth in the Kingdom of God. As Jesus Christ made clear, only those who continue to stand faithful - in submission to and obedience of the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ - until the very end will be saved - Matthew 24 vs 12 - 13 & Mark 13 vs 13 - meaning all those who refuse to live faithfully(in obedience) until the end will not be saved this regardless of whether they believe and are born-again. undecided

4. According to Jesus Christ, a man who loves Him, a man in Christ, is one who lives His life in continuous submission to and obedience of His teachings and commandments - John 14 vs 15 - 25. Whereas a man who follows after the doctrines and traditions of men instead, even while proclaiming to believe in Jesus Christ, does not love Jesus Christ and hence is not a man after Christ's own heart. Many who claim to believe fall under the latter umbrella and I know you are well aware of this yourself. These are many of those Jesus Christ warned His followers against needing to associate with or even be found with as the very words out of their mouths are nothing but lies against God Himself. undecided

So, it is faulty reasoning, where Jesus Christ is concerned, to assume that one is eternally saved simply by believing. None of that concurs with the teachings of Jesus Christ. Yes, that idea is instead born of the doctrines and traditions of men, lies, which Jesus Christ warned were set against God's Truth and power - Matthew 15 vs 1 - 14 & Mark 7 vs 1 - 13 undecided

As for actually seeing visions of people who have yet to be judged in Hell - Jesus Christ made it abundantly clear that until He returns to judge his flock -sheep and goats among them in Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46 - They all sleep in their graves waiting His return and eventual judgment- John 5 vs 19 - 29, so I am not certain how it is possible to see as already in Hell someone who has yet to be judged by the King. undecided
