The strength of sin is the law.

What Law?
Is it lawlessness or what?

It can't be lawlessness.
Because lawlessness is sin.

So what was he speaking about?

He was talking about the law of Moses.

It could be phrased as this, the strength of sin is being under the Law of Moses.

Now if you claim to be under grace, but you are still living a life of lying, perversity etc ; it is clear you don't really understand the grace of God in Christ Jesus.

Because if the strength of lying, perversions and co is the Law of Moses, why then you who claim not to be under the Law of Moses , but under the grace of Christ be without strength to say a big No to perversions?

Because the grace of God is not freedom to live free in sin, but to live free off sin.
And being under the motivation and in subjection to the grace of Jesus renders the strength of that your bad attitude very weak.
