Let's face the fact that Tinubu and Atiku are desperate. Desperate enough to want to buy their way to power. In a country where majority are living below poverty line, money can influence a lot.

While Atiku could bribe his way through the PDP convention, it is doubtful that he has the funds to engage in direct vote buying to alter the outcome of the election. The reason for this is that he's been out of power (and looting) for more than a decade. Not saying he's exhausted his loot, but it is doubtful he'd embark on massive inducement knowing that the outcome isn't guaranteed for him.

Tinubu's approach would be quite different. The reason is that he is still in power in Lagos. At least from the financial viewpoint. Lagos tax payers money still find its way into his pocket and so, he can afford to squander them for a shot at the presidency. When he said that it is his turn to rule, he was indirectly saying that he would do anything to win. Even if it demands knocking on every door and incducing the occupants to vote for him.

Tinubu is desperate because time and health and even goodwill are not on his side. He also knows one thing - even though Nigerians do not want him, many are too poor to turn down his money. How far Tinubu's immense wealth takes him to the presidency is what we shall find out in a matter of time.
