UYO SENATORIAL DISTRICT PROGRESSIVE YOUTH FORUM

PRESS STATEMENT

SENATOR GODSWILL AKPABIO FOCUS ON YOUR ELECTIONEERING, LEAVE OUR SON ALONE

The incessant attacks sponsored by immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio on our son, the current Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, has become a concern to the youths of Uyo Senatorial District. We have met, deliberated extensively on this worrisome trend and made far-reaching decisions, some of which, we declare as follows:

1) That we thank the President and Command in Chief of the federal republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR, for finding our illustrious son, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, as a worthy choice to administer the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs. We are happy that Mr. President saw through the fanfare endeavours put up in the Ministry and NDDC in the immediate past and decided to appointment an experienced administrator to clean these critical institutions in order for real development to take place.

2) That the Forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was ordered by President Buhari, it was undertaken by the then Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Akpabio, even though with avoidable controversies and unnecessary clout chasing. Eventually, recommendations from that report was extrapolated to form a ministerial action plan which guides supervisory activities of the Ministry over the Commission. It is therefore a matter of grave concern why Senator Akpabio should be sponsoring sham protests, baseless petitions and sundry media attacks on our son, Mr. Umana, who is merely carrying out his assignments.

3) Recently, one of Akpabio's rabid attack dogs, one Michael Matthew, made silly claims about the Honourable Minister, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, which ended up exposing Michael's unstable mental state. We wonder if Senator Akpabio did not confess to Michael, the needless killings of political figures from Uyo Senatorial district during his tenure as governor. For instance, late Mr. Paul Inyang, whom his goons murdered while a church service was going on.

4) That we believe those atrocities committed by the Akpabio regime will be addressed at an appropriate time and forum. Meanwhile, we urge persons and groups close to this failed man, Matthew, to reach out to him to ascertain his sanity. We will not engage him further, having accessed the new trend of attacks and concluded that this is a ploy to distract the Honourable Minister from achieving target goals for the Commission and the region at large.

5) Nevertheless, we which to state here categorically that while Senator Akpabio was minister, he had the support of all Akwa Ibom people, including youths of Uyo Senatorial District. He served his tenure and left. Now that Michael Matthew, has made himself a subject of nuisance to youths of Uyo with his pointless attacks on our illustrious son, has he forgotten that he lives peacefully within our community? Our adage says, "owo isi tiehe ke orung ekom éta ekom'. We are watching him.

6) That Senator Godswill should focus his so-called 'Warsaw saw war' arsenal on winning the coming senatorial contest in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district and leave our son alone. He used to boast of owning the entire political structure of Akwa Ibom, now is the time to show his sagacity and prowess. We however wonder how a man desserted by even his family members and immediate community will win the contest. Since Michael Matthew is from Oruk Anam, which is part of the senatorial district, he should get himself busy, rallying support for his pay master because his services are not needed in Uyo.

7) We wish to commend the Honourable Minister for his dignified silence in the face of these sponsored attacks. We are happy with his efforts so far in executing to the letter the ministerial action plan, which will eventually reposition the NDDC to deliver tangible development in the region. This foundation laying period is the most critical in any phase of development and we assure him of our unshakable support as he brings to bear his wealth of experience in the discharge of this enormous task.

BUILD THE YOUTHS, BUILD THE NATION!

APC made so many corrupt governors saints. Akpabio will soon become irrelevant. He Akpabio won't say he knows nothing about the illegal pipes in the Niger Delta. Very soon, they all will be locked up. All of them. Awon werey.
