Cooking Gas Price Increases By 61% by ogododo: 7:38am On Oct 27, 2022
The price of 12.5kg of cooking gas rose by 61 per cent to N9,906 in September 2022 from N6,165 in September 2021.

This was disclosed by the National Bureau of Statistics in its report on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (cooking gas) Price Watch for September 2022.

In its state profile analysis, the bureau stated that Cross River recorded the highest average retail price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder of the product with N10,937, followed by Kogi with N10,760 and Oyo with N10,724.

Conversely, the lowest average price was recorded in Yobe with N8,350, followed by Katsina and Taraba with N8,545 and N9,026 respectively.

Analysis by zone showed that the South-West recorded the highest average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder with N10,320, followed by the South-South with N10,202, while the North-East recorded the lowest price with N9,300.

Due to rising prices, coupled with the recent force majeure announcement by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers cautioned Nigerians against panic buying.

Its President, Oladapo Olatunbosun, made the appeal in a statement against the backdrop of NLNG’s declaration of force majeure on its gas facility due to flood.

Olatunbosun said cooking gas consumers should not panic about a possible scarcity of the product as a result of the force majeure

“Based on information reaching the association, the NLNG has not shut down its production facility in Bonny as rumoured,” he stated.

It's not funny sad TRUELY NIGERIANS DESERVE SUFFERING & DIFFICULTY ALLOWANCE

Despite abundance of gas in Nigeria.

Nigeria's proven gas reserves of about 206.53 trillion cubic feet was over $803.4trillion, yet spends billions importing cooking gas( LPG) from Argentina and Guinea while the commodity is becoming unaffordable to the citizens.

How South South and southeast states pay more for petroleum products that is on their land while the north without any gas deposit pays lesser should be studied as the next real wonder of the world.

The data is not wrong. South South people especially have been short-changed in Nigeria.

They take gas from South South to the north to sell cheaper but the people whose lands have been destroyed by these activities have to pay more for the final product

I've stopped filling my gas since June. 3kg can't even last you 7 days. What are the other alternatives. Electric cooker and coal pot.

1000 naira charcoal will last you for two weeks. Combine it with hot plate, you are saving yourself over 7000k in a month
