A Council of Elders known as Omidiran Group Osogbo has stressed the need for all true Osogbo indigenes not to trade the glory of the Town for the proverbial six-and-a-half pence.

The Group made the call while playing host to Senator Ajibola Basiru at the residence of its leader, Prince Dejo Babalola.

The Elders said Osogbo as a foremost town in the Osun Province since the years of the Western Region has never had it so good as Senator Basiru is doing for the Town and Osun Central.

Omidiran Group took a swipe at some element whose stock in trade has been causing divisions among people and fanning embers of crisis in Osogbo for personal aggrandizement.

Prince Dejo Babalola, Pa Adetoro Adejumo, Chief Azeez Adeleke and Deacon Adebiyi remarked that anyone who loves Osogbo should work towards its uplift in all spheres, and assured Basiru with prayers that he will triumph over adversaries and come top at the February poll.

Earlier in his address, Senator Ajibola Basiru had taken time to expatiate on his achievements within three years with the efforts reaching all the Local Governments in Osun Central.

Senator Ajibola Basiru reiterated that Federal Medical Centre is on its way to Osogbo as the Senate has passed the Bill, besides the facilitation of 5 units of transformers, a maternity centre and an Agriculture Entrepreneurial Centre in Osogbo.

In addition to blocks of classrooms for schools in Osogbo and other towns, lighting up streets, Palaces, motor parks and markets and supply of water to the communities needing such, Senator Basiru disclosed that several youths had benefitted from employment opportunities he brought, while artisans and farmers and students have had their shares however little in three years with 2020 and 2021 budgets.

He appreciated the Elders for the love shown him, assuring them his second tenure will tower over the first.
