Beside cases relating to murder and other capital offence, no excuse whatsoever justifies the detention of teens (under 18 years) by the Police for more than 12 hours. There are other ways through which students can be punished if they go against any law, such as suspension, rustication, making them to pay for the properties destroyed etc. The Nigeria Police is a total reflection of the Nigerian state (lawless economy)

It's my area....its fact
Those students beat policemen....dare them to shoot at them all because of the juju they possess.

Now i understood why police took it personal. In Ogun state parents ought to have been detained after all they signed undertaking that their kids would be of good behavior earlier in the year.

You are talking of un disciplined school children what about un disciplined school teachers, what brought about the school's dis
agreement that led to the burnings in the school. The Police should look into the cause of the situation before declaring the arrested Students guilty.

Sixteen pupils of Ibafo Community High School, Ibafo, Ogun State, are in police custody after a fight between teachers of the school and the pupils on Thursday, October 20, 2022, which led to the destruction of the school property.

Parents and siblings of the 16 students and other parents took to the streets on Friday, October 28, 2022 over the detention, lamenting that their children were underage and unlawfully kept in the police custody. The protesting mothers also visited The PUNCH.

Re: 16 Ogun Students In Detention For Destroying School Property, Parents Protest by matm: 10:10am On Oct 31, 2022
For every crime, there is a consequence. The police are very friendly. The parents who came to bail them without paying for the damages should be taken into custody in the place of their way-ward so-called children who they claim are still infants that still suckle their mums breasts.
A real underage won't have the ball to break into principal's office or destroy sch properties. If u don't like a particular school, change to another school where every thing will be a bed of roses for you.

Govt need to install discipline on this students. This will be a deterrent to other stubborn student.
what is wrong is wrong. The destruction of school properties is bad, also the detention of pupils for good 10 days without court order is bad. Therefore two wrongs can never make a right.

Detaining underaged students with hardened criminals is your idea of "installing" instilling discipline in school right? What happened to counseling? What happened to suspension? Replacement of the destroyed properties? What happened to calling stakeholders meeting and other forms of sanctioning before detention? I hope they have access to a good lawyer undecided

They won't be mix with hardened criminals although I feel for them but those students don't know that their is consequences to somethings. They should be pardon but I want you to know that this students can do something terrible by beating up their teachers and principal.
