Abia: Widow Cries Out Over Intimidation and Harassment by YPP Governorship Candidate

Mrs. Sarah Ukachi from Osisioma LGA of Abia state has cried out over molestation and intimidation by members of the Young Progressive Party for her refusal to accept a piece of wrapper from Engr Enyinna Nwafor the YPP governorship candidate.

Mrs. Ukachi, a native of Osisioma LGA of Abia state has called on the police over the harassment and intimidation of herself and her family by the YPP governorship candidate and his agents, narrating her ordeal she said YPP agents have been going door to door within Osisioma and Owerrinta axis sharing wrapper and five thousand naira and asking people to submit their voters' cards to them in a desperate effort to buy votes ahead of the election which is against the electoral laws and anyone who refuses will be molested, harassed and intimidated, the widow who while crying out to the general public, the state government and the law enforcement agents for protection said they stormed her house in the early hours of Sunday morning asking her and her 19 year old daughter to collect a wrapper and five thousand and submit their voters' cards to them, an offer she refused insisting that she won't sell her vote but will vote according to her conscience and will not submit her voters' card to anyone, angered by her response they resorted to intimidation and molestation in a bid to force her and her daughter who was getting ready for early morning mass when they came, one of them threatened that for rejecting Nana's monetary inducement that she must not step outside on the day of the election else they will attack her and rape her daughter.

She called on the police and other law enforcement agents to please protect her and her family while pleading with INEC to find a way of checkmating the illegal actions of desperate politicians like the YPP governorship candidate who go about inducing the gullible voters with cheap wrappers and 5000 naira in exchange for their voters' cards while calling on the public to please reject such desperate politicians who have no clear agenda other than the looting of public funds and vote for someone with a verifiable record of quality performance and experience in public service who will bring development to the state.
