Since no investor had come out to refute sirika's claim on the fact that non of them came out when approached to invest, then it means the man is right.

They called potential airliners to invest and they all refused, ET took the boldness and did it and later so called aviation experts are now saying it's a dent on the image of the country.

Ahbeg make wuna tell me, which image remain for this country again?

Are we saying we don't have the money to float a carrier or we are too incompetent to manage it hence the cold feet we are developing.

Honestly I will refrain from insulting you, because you Mikano people are less insultive unlike your cousins Zombidiots

Well all routes Nigerian Air (Ethiopian Air rebranded) would cover already have competitors Like Ethihad, British Air, Lufthansa and Emirates.. with Nigerian Air (rebranded Ethiopian Air) you are indirectly giving them more market share making Ethiopian Air richer with FG taken mere 5% profit
So how does Nigeria Air that does not yet exist become a competitor for Ethiopian Air that operates in the same industry with those you mentioned.
My point is Nigeria Air is not a competitor to Ethiopian Air not to mention being the main competitor

Simply put, Ethiopian Air bought off it's competitor to gain the biggest market In Africa for peanut

If we desperately needed a National Carrier, why not work with Air peace and other Local airline to form a merger?! Or CBN giving them low interest rate loan

Why not take a $2billion Loan from AFDB, IMF, China ExIm Bank or from our Foreign reserves , Excess Crude Account, to setup an Airline, paying back with profit made

.
Hear this one grin

2 billion dollars from ECA wey your yeye APC government don deplete so tey the thing no reach 400k dollars these days.

Nigeria Air that was launched with $1.5M in London many years back under this useless lying have never taxied, parked let alone fly to US or any advance nation.

What can $1.5m buy you? Can't even buy one wing of a private jet

Both. Nigeria is close to broke. Spending $1bln on an airline right now shouldn't be our priority. Now that we don't have Nigerian Air, is there anywhere in the world you want to go to that you cannot?

And yes we are too incompetent to manage it properly. Evidence abounds around us already.

You fool! How old is the airline? Airline that is not up to a day old and you are expecting it to have global reach at once. It must have to start from the home front before it will think of going outside the shore of Nigeria.

So with everything written up there, this is what you can deduce.
You are unarguably, one of the most stupeed people on the internet!

Oh oh ask me o! We Nigerians are just proud for nothing. We offer nothing to the world except Yahoo, yahoo, fraud, scams, drugs, cults etc. But we want to be forming creating our own airline when we are not even organised enough to manage roads, and drainage, street lights etc.

Who will take Nigeria serious after the Virgin Nigeria and Nigeria Airways scenario. Investors are unwilling because of the unstability with the country avation space. Moreover from a commercial perspective, ET are the highest shareholders while Nigeria govt has 5%. The Nigerian private/institutional investors are less bothered about who occupies what position. They are more concerned about giving it all it takes to be efficiently run and becoming a profitable venture

Dont mind those urchins. To help Nigerian Air, they have to purge them of their demons like overstaffing, financial recklessness and government overbearing demands that killed the Nigerian Airways.

Main competitor bawo
How can it be the main competitor when it only exists on paper
Ethiopia Airlines simply expanded its operations and flight slots.
Read and understand before making comments

A competitor is a rival business whose activities have the "potential"to reduce another business's share of the market.

Nigeria with her vast population is as far as Africa is concerned has the potential to give Ethiopia air a run for their money

So you say Nigeria is a ticking time Airline Bomb waiting to blow.

The North have a deal with Ethiopia air.
Which make Nigeria Air a scam. We have Air peace, Ibom Air and the like who can still deliver with little time and needed resources.

And do not also forget that the North prefers to Burn down to ashes 30 Boeing 737 airplanes if a southerner especially of the Igbo origin is the only aeronautic engineer to repair the airplanes.

Potential competitors are those competitors who do the same thing that you and target the same kinds of customers but aren't selling in your market area and aren't likely to do so. They could be your competition if they decided to enter, but either don't have the infrastructure or have chosen to ignore your area.

I don't know where you got the vocabulary of "potential competitor" from.
Only you know what you're talking about. But a business that does not exist can't be a competitor to one that does.
It's simple common sense and not all this your grammar.
Just imagine a pharmacy shop in your area. Now, let's assume you have an intention to go into pharmacy business someday. Will the pharmacy shop see you as a competitor simply because you have it in your mind to go into their kind of business? I hope you get it now

I do not agree with this submissions.

Nigeria as a people hold 51% of Nigerian Air. Three Nigerian Companies hold 46% and the government holds 5%. The majority holding in Air Nigeria remains Nigerian.

The government put up Nigeria Air for bids by Nigerian citizens and international Airlines. I do know that aside from Ethiopian Airlines, Qatar Airways also Bided (but lost). Ethiopian and the three companies were successful.

What baffles me is that these so call experts now crying and writing articles all over the place did not advise the Nigerian airline companies to come together and put forward a competitive bid. If you did not bid, how did you want to win?

Again before now Nigerian government and her people tried to develop this same national carrier and failed woefully.. Do we all forget Jimoh Ibrahim and Virgin Nigeria? Do we also forget the airline whose only presence we saw in a proposed logo?

Let's not kid ourselves.

Airline business is no small feat.. you need experience and more importantly capacity to build/scale it successfully.

Look at little TOGO they have successful a national carrier that operates into and out of nigeria called ASKY AIRLINES - guess who runs it for them- ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES. Do you how much Togo made from aviation last year?

Let's not sensationalise business. If we are CEOs we would hire based on accomplishments/capability and not sentiments. Why then should the Government act differently?

They have mortgaged Nigeria again with this shameless, suspicious and fraudulent agreement with Ethiopian Airlines.

When people said this renewed attempt by the FG to resuscitate this moribund Nigeria Airlines is just another corruption cum failed project in the making their mummified zombies here were insulting us.

Nigerian just loss the Malabu case in Italy having loss so much scarce resources to the P & ID case. For this nation to enter another deal that will just be a rip off is another unthinkable economic burden.

ET should protect their investment abeg. They should take all the positions if they want Nigerian Air to be run profitably and very well.
Put a nigerian there and they will loot the money for aircraft maintenance.
A sham of a country

Hmmmm .... can this or any local government run a national airline? We had kne a d what happened? ... things are worse now .... politicians are greedily and more powerful ... no oversights.... why would one expect Ethiopia to not hold all the key positions? They're complaining because there is no room for corruption.

They spent millions of dollars to launch a logo and when we shouted against the unnecessarily extravagant spendings, urchins called us names. In reaction to stakeholders’ disapproval of ET partnership, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, stated that apart from being one of the biggest and most efficient airlines in the world, Ethiopian Airlines was the only airline that responded to its requests for expression of interest and fulfilled all the stipulated conditions laid down by Nigeria to be picked.

He said: “We did not cede Nigeria Air to Ethiopian Airlines. It is the only airline in the world that made $1 billion profit even during Covid-19 pandemic. It is the most prosperous, efficient and leading airline in the African continent and it was the only airline that responded to our request for partnership to run the airline after many months of advertisement of expression of interest.

“Even after some interested persons asked Nigeria to extend the time of EoI and we did, none of them showed interest. Despite the fact that officials of the ministry of aviation led by me personally visited some of the leading airlines across the world and pleaded with them to take up the partnership with Nigeria to set up the airline, none of them signified interest except Ethiopian Airlines, which has been allotted 49 percent shares while Nigerian institutional investors take up 45 percent while the federal government will take up only five percent

No one showed interest except Ethiopian airlines that knows that Nigeria Air will eventually be subsumed under them.

Must we have Nigeria Air? Why not promote Air Peace and others to represent the interest of Nigeria in the world airspace?

XENOPHOBIC NIGERIANS…
But if this was British Airways, doubtful they’ll be complaining.

Personally, I am AGAINST the entire Nigeria Air concept…
But Nigerians knew from Day 1 that it will be managed by a foreign airline.

The foreign technical partner brings capital (cash) and expertise…
But Nigeria Air does NOT preclude other Nigerian airlines from competing.
