World population reaches eight billion - as projections reveal where is growing the fastest

The world's eight billionth resident has been born today (15th November 2022), according to projections by the United Nations Population Division.

World population has now hit the eight billion mark as of 15 Nov, according to a UN report. The next billion people are projected to come from only eight countries - Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines and Tanzania. The projection is revealed in the UN's World Population Prospects 2022 report. The United Nations called the eight billion-mark as a historic milestone.
