Lagos To Establish 3 More Asphalt Plants Across State

on AUGUST 26, 2011 · in BUSINESS

The Lagos State Government is planning to establish three additional asphalt plants in Badagry, Ikorodu/Epe axis and the Lagos Mainland.

Mr Samuel Ayetutu, Head, Public Relations Department, Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC), who disclosed this, said that the three new plants would increase the production of asphalt for road maintenance. He said that the new plants would complement the existing asphalt plant in the state that currently produced about 300 tonnes of asphalt per hour.

“We have an asphalt plant which was established about 15 years ago and it produces about 300 tonnes of asphalt per hour. We are planning to establish additional asphalt plants in the state as part of our five-year road map in Ikorodu-Epe axis, Badagry and Lagos Mainland.

We produce our asphalt by ourselves and that is why we have been able to embark on the rehabilitation and repair of more roads in the state with less stress,” Ayetutu said.

He assured residents of the state that the corporation would continue to repair all distressed roads, adding that it had kept its promise to rehabilitate bad roads on weekends and during public holidays.

“Our staff spent about seven hours last weekend working on the bad portions of the Ikorodu Road at Fadeyi up to the base of the bridge which connects Ojuelegba area. I can assure you that during the forthcoming Sallah holidays also, if it does not rain, we are going to work. That is how we have been working in the last two years. Since the rains subsided, we have been working in a minimum of 10 locations on daily basis on both federal and state roads without any discrimination,” he said.

I can imagine how wonderful Lagos will be by 2015. but the problem is that as Lagos becomes increasingly marvelous, a lot of ppl from other states will flood to lagos and roam the streets homeless. The other governors are really dropping the ball and giving Gov. Fashola extra work to do angry angry.

That can be handled the way Elrufai did it in Abuja. Implement anti-masses policies so that only the well-to-do comes to Lagos. All those rag-tag houses in Alimosho and some parts of Agege, mushin and Ajegunle should be cleared.

No boss. So that they can go back to their villages and find something better to do and somewhere better to live.

Really? What held them back these past 12 years?

The operative words here are "to establish", meaning it is another scheme for the future, with no time frame. Let me remind you all:

"Lagos State Government will soon begin the construction of the Coastal Road". This announcement was first made in 1999 by the Tinubu administration. They then proceeded, 4 years later, to "concession" said road to LCC, which we all know to be owned by Bola Tinubu himself. Rather than build that road as promised, however, they jumped onto the ALREADY EXISTING Lekki-Epe expressway, destroying portions of it and adding one lane to either side. When we protested, the "concession agreement" surfaced, showing that the WHOLE OF Lekki Peninsula had been concessioned to LCC, aka Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They've been at that expansion for 5 years now, and still haven't managed to go beyond 6 kilometers completed. I still dey laff.

"Lagos State Government will soon commence the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge". Another promise parroted every year since 1999. Fashola has now admitted that the Federal Government would have to come and assist them to build it, meanwhile, they can build the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, another LCC property, which will be TOLLED, with $42 m of Lagos State Taxpayers' money.

and many many other unfulfilled promises like that. We are watching, and trust me, Tinubu, Fashola and their helpers will all pay one day, for all their atrocities against Lagosians. As the Lord Lives.
