A Niger Delta activist Asari Dokubo has thrown his weight behind Bola Tinubu, saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate is miles ahead of other contenders for Aso Rock.

“For the presidential election, I am with Tinubu because I saw what he did in Lagos State and the legacies he left behind,” he said on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday.

As far as he is concerned, Tinubu was instrumental in the development of Lagos State and helped turned the fortunes of the former Nigerian capital.



“Lagos has transformed from what it used to be like a big ghetto, a junkyard to a global centre and one of the biggest economies in the whole of Africa. Somebody kickstarted it; somebody laid the foundation,” he maintained.

According to him, those claiming otherwise should also know that even in the biggest cities across the world, there are people who are not okay with the government. This, he maintained, is expected in a place like Lagos where the APC flagbearer has succeeded in laying a good foundation.

While he said other contenders like the Labour Party’s Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) were former governors and in a similar league like Tinubu, he said Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) does not have such a credential.

“Atiku has actually never actually handled executive power. He was a spare tire. He was a vice president,” Dokubo said.

The Niger Delta activist said though PDP, Labour Party, and the APC’s manifestoes are all great, execution depends on individuals as he maintained that Tinubu is the best choice for the presidential position.

You endorsed his presidential candidacy because you believe he is the one that developed Lagos State. You said he will replicate Lagos development in the entire country. When you were reminded that he is no longer as healthy as he was when he governed Lagos, you claimed he is not sick.

When his body weakness manifested beyond all doubts, you said he doesn't need physical strength to be a president. You said all he needs to govern Nigeria is a sound mind. You claimed he is mentally sound enough to be the president.

He himself has now proven that he is not as mentally sound as you claimed. I wonder what your next slogan would be. Apparently, his inarticulateness is why he has been avoiding presidential debates and town hall meetings.

When you want to defend his questionable past, you say the past doesn't matter. But when you want to justify your support for his candidacy, the past matters. Inconsistency is a deadly disease.

God bless Dokubo Asari for being truthful. He has done it before in Lagos asnthe pioneer of Lagos development, he'll do it again.

You don't need a healthy person you Need a capable person I have once served a boss who was down with cancer and it never felt like he was absent, he had the right team to support him ,the reason you guys keep falling for the rhetoric of politicians about health is because of how nepotic buhari was and laid back buhari was ,if not it won't be an issue. His speeches at campaign rallies show it. Also, let him face Obi or Atiku in a presidential debate.
