I forgot i stated wifes family in my first post.

"Entitlement mentality" can be stretched to mean different things to people.

If i was well loaded, i will ensure my wife's family are all doing okay. I will consider it my duty. Of course, there's a limit i will go. As long i have set up everyone, i will consider my work done.

There are sad cases where brothers and sisters neglect their own direct siblings.

My dad sponsored his half brother who was a child of the last wife of his dad to uni in America. My dad had to pay $10,000 to an american uni in the early 1980s so he could get a visa.

Upon arriving there, he started bugging my dad with all kinds of lies and my dad kept sending him money.

When this guy became successful, he helped no one, not even his direct siblings to the US. His wife brought her twin brother over. My dad got very little from him.

When he even came home for the first time in 2007, he came to my dads house in ondo in the morning. Left in the morning and we expected him in the evening and never returned. My dad had bushmeat prepared for him.

I'm sure your dad has learnt his lesson, even though he was being compassionate but the person was an ingrate. In life, don't give what you can't forgo.

Truly, Africans believe in communal life and not individualism and this is the reason many families do contribute in sending their relatives abroad so as to repay them back by supporting their own kids or them personally.

Sadly, many people do take advantage of that and become ingrate, thereby making it difficult for others behind to be supported by family.

Also, people should learn to reserve funds for their own kids too while lifting up family members. Nobody can solve all family problems because most African families are poor and your wealth won't be enough to lift them all out of poverty.
