The Holy Spirit is the promise of God to the believers. Anybody that calls himself a christian that does  not have the Holy spirit inside of him is just joking, for such a christian will always be dried and eventually die spiritually. Therefore for you to have the spirit of God you must do the following:

a. You must be born again.Jn3:3] You must invite Jesus Christ into your life. Rev.3:20

b. You must be sanctified- that means that you will allow the spirit to of God wash you clean through the word of God.Jon 15:3

c.You must thirst for the infilling of the Holy spirit. Jon 7:39

d. you must ask Jesus to fill you with the Holy spirit.Matt.7:7

e. you have to believe that you have  been filled with the Holy spirit;and that you have been given the gifts that follow.Mark 11:24-25
