UNICAL VC To Wage War With Corruption, Launches Library Mobile App by Sapa23: 7:13am On Dec 02, 2022

Professor Florence Banku Obi, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Calabar (UNICAL) has launched the UNICAL Library Mobile App for the iOS and Android Operating Systems. The application provides access to resources of the University Library “On the Go.” This was made known at a town hall Meeting held at the International Convention Centre on Thursday to mark her second year anniversary in office.

“You can download the University of Calabar Library Mobile App as follows:
For Android: To downloads the UNICAL Library Mobile App search for “unicallibrary” on the Google Play Store or use the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wUNICALLibrary_16280215&hl=en&gl=US

For iOS: To downlod the UNICAL Library Mobile App Use the link: http://libraryunical.glideapp.io

The University of Calabar Library is the intellectual hub of the community. Established in 1975, the Library’s collection has grown from 756 materials to over one million unique materials, which include some of the only surviving dairies from Colonial Nigeria. The Library has the capacity to host over three thousand (3,000) readers. The University Library is a place of invention and an engine of collaboration where users explore the past, understand the present and innovate for the future.

During her speech, she went further to say that her administration cannot hope to excel in an environment where corruption is a norm. According to her, “in my investiture speech, I had promised to do all within my powers to fight corruption, for we cannot hope to excel in an environment where corruption is a norm. In addition to the modest successes recorded in the years, we are waging the war against corruption aggressively. I am pleased that the cashless policy has sunk into both staff and students as well as the policy on booknsales.”

“As we continue to deal with unscrupulous elements within the system, through the invocation of the relevant rules and regulations and subjecting them to the prescribed disciplinary procedure, I assure you of our unwavering commitment to the task of sanitizing the university”, she said.
She warned lecturers against inserting assignments into books they publish and then compelling students to do them saying the policy against compelling students to buy books is in place.”

“She said the university’s policy initiatives and implementation remain in place and having let everyone understand what guides them, her administration remains firm in the holistic implementation of it’s policies and enforcement of our rules no matter whose ox is gored.
She added that the fibre roll out that started in the first year of her administration has terminated in over 80% of departments and units across the university.” She emphasized that “with our pace and tempo having been set, our goal of excellence clearly in view, our resolve is unshakable and stronger than any obstacle on the way as we continue the March of our time to place our university on an enviable pedestal.” She also reaffirmed her commitment for the University’s general development.

The townhall Meeting was attend by stakeholders of the University including her 5 principal officers, the DVC Academics, Professor Angela Oyo-Ita, the DVC Administration, Professor Micheal Okom, the University Librarian, Professor Aniebiet Inyang Ntui, the Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe and the Newly Appointed Bursar, Mr Joseph Odum.

Library mobile app is very good for students. They can read from the comfort of their homes.

But bloggers use sensational captions to deceive people. She already made the war promise when she assumed the office. She is yet to fulfill the promise. You mention the promise here as if the app is part fulfilment of the promise. Just give news about the app and leave the promise out of it.

How does the app work against the corruption that comes from the staff? The caption has corruption in it. So, how does this app monitor fund management, sex and money for grade in the school?

NOTE:The app doesn't end corruption in the library unit because the same way money is embezzled in the name of managing the physical library is also how money will be stolen in the name of managing the online library.

Waging war against corruption is the first part of the caption and the last part of the post itself. Why? The app is the significant information in the post and should be the first in the caption. The waging of war is just a promise which she already made in her speech when she became the VC. The caption is phrased as if the launched app is a part fulfilment of the war against corruption. The war against corruption is not even necessary in the post because she has done nothing regarding the war.
