Famous Nigerian skit maker and social activist, Debo Adebayo, known as Mr Macaroni, has called out the current All Progressives Congress-led federal government over its hypocrisy in handling the recurring fuel scarcity in the country

Mr Macaroni said the current government led protests, shut down the economy, and even issued threats some years ago demanding that petrol be sold at N65 per litre.

He stated that now they are in charge of the government, fuel is not even available. He made the statement on Thursday via his verified Twitter handle.
Mr Macaroni lamented that people are suffering amid the lingering fuel scarcity.

He wrote: “This current government led protests, shut down the economy and issued threats some years ago demanding that Fuel be sold at N65 per litre. They are in power now, and The price of Fuel is over 300% of what it was before. Upon that, the Fuel is not even available. Unbelievable!!!.

“These are those who call themselves Patriots today. Some of those who are in government now were advocates of Civil war and anarchy some years ago.

“They are in power now, and there is fuel scarcity everywhere; the people are suffering. If we talk, they call us Enemies of Nigeria.”

So, the argument is that we should keep on selling fuel at N65 per liter.

Agreed APC has failed, but one of the reasons why we don't have fuel is because we Nigerians have refused to accept that fuel has to be sold at the market price for it to be freely available. Not at government set price.

In 2011, we should have faced that reality and allowed the government to remove subsidies completely. By now, fuel would have been flowing freely. Instead, we keep on saying no, and no and no

So, why won't fuel not be available when we are selling something that costs N500 at N180?

At least, he is right about one thing...if Buhari and company had supported fuel subsidy removal in 2011, instead of playing politics...by now they would have been reaping the benefits...assuming they got elected in 2015. Instead...they played politics, and essentially stabbed themselves in the back.


(Yes, we need to build refineries...but refineries have to sell fuel at a profit for them to have enough money to work well, otherwise, we would just be building new refineries to be scrapped ten years later).

So unfortunate. The worse part is that you become an enemy of the state when you criticize the government of the day. People are really suffering and the best the ruling party can do is to present an unfit BAT as it's presidential candidate. We are wiser now. Atiku Abubakar the unifier is coming.
