... officially receives decampees from APC, LP

Bayelsa Governor, Senator Douye Diri today inaugurated the Bayelsa chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Presidential Campaign and Advisory Council in Peace Park, Yenagoa.

Senator Douye Diri is the Chairman of the Campaign Council while the former Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, is the Chairman of the Advisory Council.

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Diri said, "The reason we are here today is to inaugurate the Bayelsa chapter of the presidential campaign council and advisory council. Let me on behalf of the chairman of our great party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, and our party in general, congratulate you on your inauguration as members of the Atiku/Okowa campaign council, Bayelsa State chapter."

Governor Diri also, while receiving the decampees from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP), said that the Atiku/Okowa campaign is going to be issue-based and not propaganda, hence, welcomed the decampees on behalf of the party leadership.

"I like to on behalf of the party, the State Chairman, the leadership of the party, and all members of this party welcome you back and to receive you.

Officially, we are receiving you today, I know that unofficially I had received virtually most of you.

And our campaigns are going to be issue-based, we are not a party that will go and tells lies, we are not a party of propaganda and deceit. We have restructured PDP and the incoming president is going to recover Nigeria for Nigerians."

In attendance were, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, wife of the governor, His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, immediate past governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa west senatorial district, Hon. Fred Agbedi, member representing Sagbama-Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, his Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma and Ogbia counterparts, Professor Steve Azaiki and Hon. Fred Obua, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, former Managing Director of NDDC, Chief Timi Alaibe, other members of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Solomon Agwana, Chairman, People's Democratic Party, Bayelsa State chapter and members of the state working committee, members of the state executive council, special advisers, technical advisers, and other top government functionaries.
