Chinese Miners Cause Havoc In Osun Community by NaijaphiliaBlog: 2:06pm On Dec 04, 2022
Residents of Awolumate Zone 3 Community in Ile-Ife, Osun State, have appealed to security agencies and the state government to come to their aid, following activities of some expatriate miners, said to be Chinese.

In the affected community, a large portion of land close to residential buildings have been dug out by the miners. As many as 20 houses are said to be at risk due to the activities of the miners, who are reported to be Chinese.

The chairman of the community, Abimbola Olafare, called on relevant organs of government and the security agencies to come to their aid, and stop the mining activities in the area.

“As many as 20 houses have been affected by the activities of these miners. There was no agreement signed with them before they commenced work in the area.

“We had to rescue people whose houses are close to the river. An old woman fled from home because of the activities of these miners. We never consented to them working in our community. Security agents and government should come to our aid.”

It might probably be illegal mining, but anything can happen in this country, Nobody values life, and the government will not listen until the community fight back. Violence seems to be what the government listens to.
