The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has said he may not rely on Nigeria’s healthcare system for his personal use if elected president.

Atiku explained that health facilities that cater for his health may not be available in Nigeria.

Speaking at the Arise TV Townhall debate, Atiku lamented that Nigeria’s healthcare system has limitations.

The former Vice President was asked if he would use Nigeria’s medical establishments as president to de-emphasise the use of foreign hospitals.

He said: “We have limitations; we know we have those limitations, health facilities that cater to my health may not be available.”

Atiku resides in Dubai, and only comes to Nigeria for important holidays and political activities.

I think Atiku was only being honest here, but in Nigeria, people don't like honest politicians. Instead, we prefer politicians who lie to us.

However, I like how Peter Obi explained it. He said he remodeled and equipped many hospitals in his home state as governor and still uses them.

But if specialists from such hospitals refer a patient to hospitals outside Nigeria because Nigeria cannot handle that case, there's no way the patient will say NO. This is because it's a matter of life or death.

Atiku may not bring much change in Nigeria but he would be better than Tinubu, but if Nigerians want rapid growth, vote Obi.

The President-Maj.General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) Said “Nigerians have suffered so much going abroad for medical treatment. This is not good for us & it must stop because we can’t afford it again" The President, who himself had travelled to the United Kingdom for treatment on several occasions."
https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/nigerians-cant-continue-going-overseas-for-treatment-buhari/amp/ This is the kind of hypocrites Nigerians must avoid. Not everyone can afford foreign healthcare. Besides why should leaders go to access healthcare outside this nation?

Fair enough
It's better than condemning foreign medical trips only to become Chief medical tourist in office

But Atiku should also know it's a slap on Nigeria for an aspiring President to say he won't be patronizing our health system. A country that can afford and maintain 20 PJs for the president should be able to afford and maintain 1 world class hospital for the president.
Our leaders should try to be patriotic in their reasoning and not only adopt patriotism when it suits their whims.

Imagine Brazilian President receiving medical services in UK or US. How many Nigerians can afford traveling out for health services that's not available in Nigeria. So we should not expect improved health care industry from you people to cut the long story short.

I admire his honesty but this is a red flag. If you as the president can't be knowledgeable enough to improve the health care sector, same time importing the said equipment for your health, which will not only be enjoyed by you but by others by extension, then you have no plan for the country u tend to lead.

Buhari doesn't use Nigerian hospital facilities at all, not even his Aso Rock clinic that he fraudulently budgets millions of naira for.

Besides, he has been president for 7 years without thinking of providing in Nigeria such skills and facilities that take him to the UK hospital every now and then.

On the other hand, Peter Obi is a man who cares about his reputation and feels he owes the public explanation for what he does.

Furthermore, Peter Obi runs public offices like a private business. Every kobo spent is accounted for and he cannot be seen wasting public funds on things that can be replicated in this country.

In one hospital Peter Obi rehabilitated and equipped in Anambra, he found out that certain procedures couldn't be performed in Nigeria and asked the Nigerian doctor in the US who does it over there how much it would cost to equip the hospital and do the same in Nigeria.

When the budget was given, he provided money for it and the hospital now has state-of-the-art facilities and can perform the procedures in the Nigerian hospital. It's an insult to Peter Obi to compare him with Buhari.

This is why people who know him will do anything to see him win this election and fix this dysfunctional country.

If this explanation is not good enough for you, then you must be a sick urchin who needs mental evaluation.
