The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs. Olayinka Abdulwahab has declared the 2022 Batch C Stream 2 Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) in-camp training open and enjoined the Prospective Corps Members deployed to the State to acquire a skill to be self-reliant.

Abdulwahab made the statement at the opening ceremony of the SAED In-camp training at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Monday. She stated that the SAED training which today has begone will equip the PCMs to be self reliant and great entrepreneurs in life.

She also outlined other collaborating agencies which have been consistent in extending their corporate social responsibilities to Corps Members in the State. According to her some of the programmes and organizations include: Graduate Entrepreneurship Fund from the Bank of Industry, Accesspreneurship challenge from Access Bank and the Corpreneurship Challenge from Unity Bank.

Abdulwahab also highlighted the 12 skills et available for PCMs to learn from stressing that the twelve skillset embody subskills making a wider range of skills available for them to learn from. She stated that since the programme started thousands of Corps Members have been trained with many becoming employers of labour, cutting their teeth in business rather than seeking for white collar jobs.

She charged the PCMs to take the programme seriously and make sure they add value to themselves in order to become productive members of the society contributing meaningfully to the socio-economic growth of the nation.

Correspondingly, the Branch Manager, of Unity Bank, Osogbo, Mr. Tajudeen Jimoh explained extensively the Corpreneurship challenge and urged PCMs to avail themselves of this opportunity as One Million Naira is available to Corps Members with an innovative bankable proposal.

"The winner whose proposal will defeat others to come first among the 10 finalists that will be shortlisted to defend their business proposal will go home with the sum of 500,000 naira, the second position will win 300,000 naira while the third position will win 200,000 naira," he said.

Speaking earlier the Head of SAED, Mr. Aleshinloye Adeniyi gave a brief background of the SAED programme and urged them to participate actively in both the in-camp and post-camp training to become experts in their chosen skills.

He intimated the Members on the benefits of the SAED programme and also told them that the Scheme has partnered with financial institutions and regulatory bodies who will be coming into the Camp to sensitise and enlighten the PCMs on how to make their entrepreneurial dream a reality.

The opening ceremony further featured a playlet from the SAED Ambassadors, testimonies from serving Corps Members and introduction of trainers.

In a related development, a motivational lecture was delivered to the
PCMs by the CEO of Personal Development Institute, Mr. Segun Oduyebo. He told them that they can be great in life, regardless of their background. To achieve this, he urged them to work on themselves to develop competence and character rather than believing that the solution lies in leaving the country for a change of environment popularly known as 'japa'.

Leading the team of National Directorate of Employment, Mr. Razak Oyekanmi and Mr. Bamidele Olugbenga drew the attention of the PCMs to the entrepreneurship world and thanked the NYSC Management in the State for allowing them to deliver the lecture, stating that the organization is grateful for this.

Oyekanmi started the EDP lectures with the PCMs taking them through the SAED workbook.
