Ondo Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said his administration made over N800m in revenue from commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada from January till date.

Akeredolu said the money was realized from sales of tickets to the Okada riders across the 18 local government areas.

Akeredolu, who was represented by his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, spoke at the 2022 raffle draw ceremony for commercial motorcycle riders in the state.

He said revenue from sale of ticket from Okada riders was about N4.8m annually when he came on board.

His words: “In 2018, we were able to generate N350million. In 2019, the state generated over N538million, 2020 (with the COVID-19 pandemic), we were able to get over N660million. In 2021 we made over N750million.

“This led to the invitation of commercial motorcycle riders to this hall last year where they were gifted various items ranging from gas cylinder to different sizes of generating sets to appreciate their commitment.
