Zumbi dos Palmares was the nickname given to a Brazilian slave named Francisco who managed to escape from captivity and establish a community of escaped slaves called Palmares. Located in the mountains of Northeast Brazil, Palmares was a haven for runaway slaves who sought freedom and refuge from the horrors of slavery. Zumbi, who was born in 1655, was a charismatic and determined leader who fought fiercely to defend the community from slave-hunters and the Brazilian army. There will never cease to be traitors among blacks. Most of our leaders are traitors. They sell the country to foreigners and pocket the billions. This evil culture was passed on to the current generation from our ancestors and today kidnapping, ritual killing etc have become the order of the day. Men live with the fear that their wives are sleeping around and they could be fathering another man's children. Women live with the fear that their husbands have families elsewhere. We glorify material wealth, beauty and fame over character. We cannot continue like this and expect Nigeria to be a better place...it will only get worse. |
