Fellow Nairalanders, I see a trend building up in Nigeria education sector. Most Nigerian private schools, even those who can hardly pay good salaries to first degree holders now advertise for PHD holders for wmploymwent as Principals. Do you really think possession of a PHB will make a man an effective Principal? If you own a school, which will you go for - A PHD holder or an experienced and dedicated man with a history of provable results?

Please a PhD is not enough but it is just a portion of what is required to be a good Principal but talent is very crucial when it comes to management because often we have seen Bachelor holders who have performed wonders in there areas than Masters and PhD holders. I think it is necessary to look at other aspects than academic qualifications alone.

God forbid! I will never employ a PhD holder as a secondary school principal. What for? That is complete underemployment. Bsc is enough for such positions. What really does a principal do that will require a PhD? Na wah for 9ja o
