The federal government has forbidden polytechnics and related institutions from granting degrees to its graduates.

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), in a circular dated December 1, 2022, with the heading TEB/PRO/E/12/Vol.11/132, informed the affected institutions of the government’s decision.

The Federal Ministry of Education expressed shock at the rising number of tertiary institutions in the nation offering programs for which they are not accredited, according to a copy of the document signed by the director of the board’s polytechnic programs department, Ogoh Ngbede, and seen by our correspondent on Tuesday.
