SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH FLAGS OFF OPERATION LIGHT UP AND SECURE ANAMBRA SOUTH PROJECT IN EKWUSIGO LOCAL GOVERNMENT

INAUGURATES FIVE MAN WARD COMMITTEES AND TEAMS TO OVERSEE THE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT*

Residents of Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State will soon enjoy better security and bussiness revival following the flag off of “Operation Light-Up and Secure Anambra South” project in the area on Wednesday by the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District and Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the 2023 Anambra South Senatorial Election , Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah. Speaking at the event that took place at Oraifite Civic Centre, Senator Ubah said that the project is part of efforts by his office to support relevant authorities in the provision of security for his constituents The Anambra South Senator who was received by the YPP Candidate for 2023 Ekwusigo State Constituency Election, Lady Juliet Anaeme (Ada Ozubulu) and some of the local government stakeholders as well as numerous members of the communities that make up the local government area ,also appreciated ndị Ekwusigo for their continuous support and reaffirmed his will to always facilitate projects and programmes that will promote the wellbeing of ndị Anambra South.

Speaking further on the objectives of the project, Senator Ubah disclosed that the project will feature installation of solar powered facilities that are equipped with a Light-Emitting Diode (LED) light system and other powerful electronic gadgets that will help security agencies in surveillance and security analysis. This he said will also help in the promotion of businesses at the grassroots. He also revealed that the project is a response to appeals by his constituents to give adequate support to relevant authorities to secure their lives and properties.

The Anambra South Senator also informed ndị Ekwusigo that Engineers contracted to execute the project in all the Wards of their local government are 100% indigenes, and that the preference of indigenes for the project’s execution is in line with his avowed principle of getting his constituents fully involved while performing his legislative functions. Senator Ubah further said that with indigenes taking charge of the project’s execution, it will be easier to secure and maintain the facilities. He also maintained that execution of the project by indigenes will generate direct and indirect employment in the local government and that such will go a long way in promoting the economy of the Senatorial zone .

Senator Ubah also disclosed that the project will be executed by indigenous contractors in all Wards of Anambra South and urged the contractors to execute the project diligently and efficiently..

The Senator who also inaugurated the five man committees as well as the teams that will take part in the Ifeanyi Ubah Football Academy tournament used the opportunity to task the youths to ensure that bad elements in the communities are isolated and made to abandon crimes and embrace handwork. He tasked them to imbibe the spirit of "see something, say something" as a veritable means of eradicating insecurity in the zone.

The highlight of the occasion was the kititng of the teams with football jerseys and boots .

The bases and solar poles were also delivered to the communities and the contractors tasked to deliver within the stipulated time frame.

The award of contract letters and inauguration of the five man committees will continue today with visits to Aguata and Nnewi North local government areas
