Divine love is the love that is of God. This is a love that gives all. John 3:16 says God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. This is a love that does not hold back at all. Romans 8:32 says:
“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”

The day Jesus Christ was crucified, He was stripped naked He surrendered all! Divine love is powerful because it is unchangeable. 1 John 4:8 says God is love. Thus the love of God cannot change because God Himself cannot change (Hebrews 13:8, Malachi 3:6). This means that when God falls in love with you, it is until the end. The latter part of John 13:1 says:
“having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.”

If you have never been disappointed by a friend yet, get ready, it may occur anytime. By the time you are as old as I am, you may have been disappointed by many friends. God, however, never disappoints. He is the One who says, I will never leave you nor forsake you and believe me honestly, He means it.

God has two levels of people He loves. There is the general love He has for everybody. That is the love spoken of in John 3:16. It is because of this love that Jesus came to die for everybody. It is because of this love that we all enjoy rain, the sun and the likes (Matthew 5:45).

However, 1 John 4:19 says, "We love Him, because He first loved us". This set of people who reciprocate His general love get to enjoy His greater love. These are the ones about whom He says I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me (Proverbs 8:17).

To enjoy this great divine love, you have to love Him and He says in John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments". If you want to enjoy this unfailing love, holiness is a must.

It is because of this love that we all enjoy rain, the sun and the likes (Matthew 5:45).

3. However, 1 John 4:19 says, "We love Him, because He first loved us". This set of people who reciprocate His general love get to enjoy His greater love. These are the ones about whom He says I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me (Proverbs 8:17).

1. Also of importance is the fact that this same Jesus Christ also indicated that this love of God — a love only available to those who obey His teachings and commandments — is available only to those who are of the blood of Jacob as He also said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” So, it is very important to carefully understand what God's "Love", this divine idea, is really about, entails and who is qualified to have it since it was not offered to all who live on earth. undecided

2. As Jesus Christ taught in His Gospel, the agreement of peace — the Gospel of the Kingdom of God — God's love which God promised to the House of Jacob, is an everlasting covenant. Meaning God's love for His followers in Jesus Christ is presented in the form of the agreement — a contract that defines a relationship between God and man— embodied in the person of Jesus Christ. undecided

3. It is important to mention the fact that loving God in Jesus Christ means living one's life in submission and obedience to the agreement that Jesus Christ represents - John 14 vs 15 - 20 & John 15 vs 7 - 14 - and God only loves those who love Him back. Meaning what John said in his letter needs to be understood in its proper context as God does not bend His Law— the terms and conditions— under no circumstances. So, an interesting question to ask here is how did God love us first? And the answer is found in the fact that God chose all those who were of the blood of Jacob as His own from even before their beginning — He made a covenant to love them all first with, the Old Covenant Law of Moses. It is not in Jesus Christ that God first loved those who are of the House of Jacob. the ones who He sent only sent Jesus Christ to. He already "loved" them by giving them His first agreement. And in Jesus Christ, God then declared that only those from amongst them who love Him in Jesus Christ would experience the love He has in Jesus Christ. undecided

4. So, to wrap up, in order to enjoy God's love in Jesus Christ, one not only has to be born of the blood of Jacob — those first loved by God—, one also has to obey Jesus Christ's every teaching and commandments, by which one is then a one who loves God back because God loved one first. This is what John meant in his letter, and what Jesus Christ alluded to in His teaching in John 3 vs 16 where He indicated that God so loved the world and then gave them— the world which He first loved, Jesus Christ. undecided
