I'm sure that you can google it and find the answer quick. But don't do that  On a standard wall clock, if the time is 3:15, what is the angle between the minute and hour hands? (and yeah i know that this is the wrong section. mods, move to the correct one if you want.) |

It'll be more useful if the route to the answer was shown. 360 (60 mins) = the entire clock. 5 mins is 30 degrees. At 15mins past the hour, the hour hand would have gone 1/4 of the distance btw 3 and 4 hours is = 1/4 of 30 degrees = 7.5 degrees. Genius :-) |

I guess u re missin somtin there.D ans is nt correct.if 5mins=30degrees.Then wat of d 15mins.i believed dat d ans shud b 1/4 of 90degrees nt 30degrees.shikeena. |

Good Puzzle. I must admit that I failed woefully when I attempted it. The catch is that at 3:15 the hour and minute hands ARE NOT on the same line as many of us (myself inclusive) would have calculated. The hour hand must have moved 1/4 the path is travels for an hour (an hour would be 360 degrees/12 = 30 degrees) so while the minute hand is on 15 minutes of the clock, the hour is on 3.15HRS. (15minutes/(60 *24)minutes? * 360 = 7.5 degrees |
