The murder of Bolanle is a tragedy and I am in no way trying to make it any lesser.

No one deserves to be killed in cold blood. Not even a criminal.

But some things make you want to ask questions.

Questions like what if this was a case of a faulty gun?

And not just a trigger happy police officer as we have been pushing all along.

This man probably has been a faithful officer putting all his best in serving this country and just by chance of holding this faulty gun, he's today in deep mess.

All those good names and services gone in just a few seconds.

I mean, he's an ASP. That alone shows the years of hard work and dedication to his job.

It's a far-fetched reason but sometimes, we should also give room for common trial and not rush to conclusions.

A man who has served for that number of years will not suddenly ask you to park your vehicle and just when you are about to do so, he then shoots.

Either there's something more or he's not really a human being. Of course, we humans have done far wickedly.

And I'll also like this to be a warning to other police officers who might be reading this.

Please as much as possible avoid pointing your guns at people. You might think the gun safety is in place. But you probably may not have it in place.

You might think there's no bullet in it, but there might be one. You may think your hands are steady and won't mistakenly pull the trigger, it just may.

And when any of that happens, no one. Absolutely no one will be interested in what you say.

All attention will be focused on the fact that you pulled the trigger. Shot someone. Killed someone.

The result of your actions will be all that will matter. Not the cause of that action.

Please as much as you try to be diligent in your service and keep your country safe, ensure that you keep yourself safe too.

The source of the problem is quite obvious, when you're the one having to teach/implore supposedly trained policemen to not point their rifles at unarmed civilians. But trust us to constantly normalise stupid and bizarre things in this society, because it's simply too much of an effort to think issues through or (even more difficult) to obey rules and act with discipline

you mistake caution for teaching.

Even experts sometimes need to be cautioned or reminded of inherent dangers
