It was a tough match for Awoniyi and his teammates playing in front of their fans in a Premier League game that ended in a 1-1 draw. Awoniyi the star signing for Forest from Union Berlin at the start of the season was given the key role to lead their attack against the Stamford Bridge landlords. Raheem Sterling scored in the 16th minute to put Chelsea in front as Nottingham Forest went to the halftime break a goal down. The hosts fought back hard and got their breakthrough in the 63rd minute through Serge Aurier even though they failed to get the winner.
