As we predicted when Taliban assumed control in 2021, Chinese investment would follow.

Taliban has signed a 25-yr contract with Xinjiang Central Asia Oil and Gas for extraction of oil from Afghanistan’s Amu River basin and to develop an oil reserve in the north of the country.

Both Ukrainian and Russian sources report that Russian troops have broken the Ukrainian defense in the center of Soledar, and Ukrainian troops are retreating to the outskirts. Unclear at this point how quickly this will lead to total Russian control of the town.
