Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has threatened to fire George-Kelly Alabo, his commissioner for works, if a road project’s contractors do not mobilize to the site within 24 hours.

While conducting the official flag-off of the Ekagho-Ogboloma-Adada Link Road’s construction in the state on Friday, the governor verbally threatened the Commissioner with the termination of his or her employment.

The governor interrupted his speech and questioned the construction company’s officials why they hadn’t mobilized to the site.

infrastructure wise, no governor in Nigeria can stand on the same pedestal with him.. I know this is arguable but in my opinion it's the truth.

Wike with the iron balls, if every governor had this much desire and seriousness to projects they budget for then Nigeria would have been a better place.

But as e dey go, governor go give padi padi contract and collect bribes, in the end project is either incomplete, sub standard or never even begins. Just ask Gandollar, he knows how it rolls.

Great.

They collect mobilization fees, and take many months to mobilize to site. After a little while they apply for variation. Wike is well supported. This way the contractors will be in the feet and deliver according to the schedule. The commissioner too will be at the necks to ensure speedy job completion.

Our contractors need this iron hand approach.

He is just a pretender- pretending to be opposing and fighting the government while at the same time in bed with them ALL. That is his role to give impression that he is tough and no nonsense…but its just nonsense though…

Nigeria needs honest and strong politically willed leaders.

Those who call Wike an emperor did not know what they were asking for when the voted for Buhari in 2015. Those who did not experience the Buhari/Idiagbon military government were only told the story by their parents. That government applied brute force on Nigerians. That government made Nigerians behave themselves. Those who thought that they could turn every public space into toilets, dustbins, etc, changed their minds at the thought of what would befall them, if caught. Nigerians sat up and there was sanity in the land. When Buhari/Idiagbon were removed by IBB and Abacha in August 1985, Nigerians heaved a huge sigh of relief. That relief sent Nigerians back to their very irresponsible normal lives.

When Buhari indicated his interest, Nigerians were sold the story of his performance in Dec 31 1983 to August 1985. He has failed to perform on all fronts.

We truly need a very honest leader, one with proven integrity, impeccable character, the zeal, accountability, trust worthy, who can lead us out of the woods. We do not need an embezzler, a crook, who dances to the crowd, supported by blind citizens, to take over.

Lee Quan Yu passed a law in Singapore at the beginning that had people arrested for peeing in the public. Please visit Singapore today. I have been there. It is one of the most beautiful countries on earth. The reason is great leadership.

If corruption and tribalism are taken away from the Nigeria system, Nigeria will be great. Wike may be angry over certain political matters. He may seem high handed, but in this, he did the right thing. Let’s support him for that please.

Wike is not pretending to be tough - Wike is actually tough. If you know Rivers well, you will understand that you cannot be a Rivers State governor if you are not rugged.

Imagine Buhari threatened and queried Adeosun, Amina and Emefiele as soon as dollar got to 300

Imagine Buhari queried the and gave matching orders to the service chiefs as soon as the 2nd kidnapping was done

Imagine Buhari gave immediate orders to NCC to set up solutions to track kidnappers

Imagine Buhari queried non performing ministers at Federal executive council meeting

Imagine Buhari fires ministers on the spot at FEC for confirmed non performance or failure

Imagine that Buhari set up a leadership structure just like in banks where a boss also gets penalized in some way for the wrong doing of the staff under him

Imagine that all executives of the government are fully aware that they could be fired next minute for non performance.

LEADERSHIP COMES WITH SOME FORM OF FIRMNESS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
