The debut of Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr is one step closer as the Saudi club terminated Vincent Aboubakar’s contract to make room for the Portuguese.

Clubs are only permitted to register eight foreign players in their respective rosters under Saudi League regulations.

Al-Nassr already had a full quota prior to Ronaldo’s amazing entrance, so one would have to depart.

The Cameroonian received compensation and is now a free agent, according to RMC Sport, who also claims that Aboubakar’s contract was terminated by mutual consent.

“Al Nassr terminated Vincent Aboubakar’s contract by mutual consent and he received all his financial rights,” the club source said, adding that Ronaldo was registered before Al Nassr’s game against Al Ta’ee on Friday.

“So now he served one game from the ban and will serve the other one against Al Shabab (on January 14), the source said.

However, the 37-year-old must first serve the suspension he was given for knocking a cellphone out of a 14-year-old’s hands in November of last year.

Prior to being allowed to make his debut against Ettifaq at home on January 22, Ronaldo will still be suspended for his new team’s journey to Al-Shabab the following Saturday.

The forward has started working out with his new team while sporting his new Al-Nassr outfit.

In the meantime, Aboubakar has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
