Delta Government says contrary to online reports, it never denied the Labour Party venue for their Presidential Campaign rally in the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu in a statement on Sunday said the party never applied officially for any venue and was denied.

He said a representative of the party only spoke to him via telephone call on Sunday (8/1/2023) morning and made demand to make use of the Arcade in Asaba.

The state government immediately within three minutes reached out to the Oshimili South Local Government Council and securred a waiver of all formalities and made the Arcade Asaba available for the Labour party to hold its presidential rally.

Aniagwu further said to demonstrate the state’s democratic credentials and tolerance for opposition, it graciously waived the amount payable for the venue.

He urged the party to carry on its rally peacefully in line with laid down rules and regulations.

Seriously this shows how unorganized and unprepared the labour party hierarchy are.

Instead they're always looking out to curry sympathy by blackmailing their opponent through unfounded allegations.

If it's not they've grounded our airplane, it'll be they refused us campaign venue.

The venue they approved was not fit for purpose which was the Old Textile Mill. They scouted and got a better venue which was now approved.

The bone of contention was the dilapidated grounds that were approved for them as against the original one they wanted.

Does it mean that its only the dilapidated structures on the video we saw online that goes for public assembly in the state? Does delta not have a stadium, why not that?

Cover up I believe.

Denying other parties of the political space to talk directly with the people, is the hallmark of Nigerian politicians. A close look at the statement by Charles Aniagwu, who is nothing but a smooth talker in Delta state, will unravel the truth that LP was originally denied the space.

It is not different from what is presently experienced in Rivers, Abia and other states of the federation. The governors, who used the same public spaces for free to campaign for their positions, suddenly have turned to order that schools and public places must not be used if certain amounts are not deposited for damages.

Intolerance makes it impossible also for ruling parties in states to accept challenges from other parties in the states. The truth remains that Labour Party has come of age in Delta state, and is a big threat to PDP. As the ruling party, the threat does not come only from APC, but LP also that has made great inroads in the state.

Unfortunately most Nigerians still do not know how important it is to appoint the right persons. Like I always say, some liken elections to football matches. They think it is all about how many goals your team scores. Foolishly for our youths, they do not know that elections provide the opportunity to examine the leaders, get them to account, either re-appoint or remove them.

One continues to wonder how APC and PDP supporters, who always claim that LP lacks structures, constantly remain worried and lose sleep because of Obi. They blindly have overlooked NNPP/Kwakwanso, who remain real threats nationwide. They do not know that their PMB/Kano votes remain a mirage, when a very large figure like Kwakwanso will get large chunk of the votes in the NW. They do not know that Kwakwanso’s followers are all over Lagos and the entire South West. How they are so childish and blind, especially the APC supporters, that they simply cannot make correct political arithmetics and arrive at proper calculations, is a shame.
