Because nobody wants stories that touches the heart. Such as “i checked my bag and couldn't find my phone”, or “i couldn't find it in my pocket”. This is especially for people in public vehicles and people moving in crowded places. It 8snt always about showoff

It's called Handset for a reason...
Oga handset doesn't mean you should always hold it in your hands, it simply means you hold it in your hands while making a call.

Unlike desk phones.

Because it is handset you nor go keep am again?
Then Why not hold it in your hands while bathing or eating because it is handset?

Everywhere you go, people hold their phones in their hands even when they have absolutely no need for it and the phones would be safer being in their pockets or bags?

Is it some kinda show-off? Cause I could swear this act is more common amongst iPhone users. Are they trying to make a statement? “Oh see the phone I use? I’m not doing too bad”

One thing I’ve noticed is that you’ll hardly find people with broken-screen phones or an entry-level smartphone holding them in their hands this way.

I overheard a Bet9ja boy narrating to his coworker how the respect he gets from folks in his neighborhood has skyrocketed because he now uses an iPhone 13.

Is it a Nigerian thing? Or na so dem dey do world over?

Generalization will generally lead to failure. My phone, wallet, huge bunch of keys as well as an assortment of various other objects are always in my pocket except when needed.

We are not in the era of Nokia torchlight phones.. cheesy
You wouldn't expect an average Nigerian to spend some bucks on phone and hide it inside pocket..Even the phone no go HAPPY say you hide am.

Nigerians and Iphone madness though.

I saw a video of a man in a banking hall, whose phone started exploding in his pocket. Omo if you can hold your phone in your hand and it is safe, do it.

Our dress mode does not accommodate it. Most people on suit still tuck it in there breast pocket but normal trouser is not always comfortable

Why the stress on your part. Because it is necklace, do you where it always. Because it is wrist watch do you where it on your wrist always. An object must be kept somewhere when not in use and when you choose to put it in use always, is also good

For males, it is not safe to keep your phone in your pocket because of the radiation emissions which may lead to infertility.

I can't forget the day I kept my phone in my pocket while in a bus. They removed the phone from my pocket, I noticed immediately I got down but the bus zoomed off. Since then it is safer in my hand than in my pocket. It is only if I am with a bag then I can put it inside since I usually go to work with a back bag.
Lol.. Had same experience, my fone was removed from my pocket in a bus.. Even putting it in the bag is not safe anymore
Coming down from oshodi foot bridge seeing my bag open twice! Thank God I always hold my phone

My brother, while you’re not wrong, you’re not right, because even when I was using a miserable gionee I felt more comfy and safer with my phone in my hands, some phones feel bogus in pockets of some outfits, and surely too if you can fork out over 200k to buy a device you will be tempted to show it off every once a while.
