Commercial banks in Nigeria risk sanction from the country’s financial regulator, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for making the new naira notes available for politicians only.

In a statement by the central bank’s Branch Controller in Awka, Anambra State, Benedict Maduagwu, the financial regulator will start monitoring the dispensation of the redesigned banknotes.
