Both Manchester Clubs have met 188 times heading into this game which was payed at Old Trafford on Saturday, January 14th, 2023. The Red Devils led the tie with 77 victories while the Cityzens have 58 wins in the bag, 53 of those games have ended in a draw.

(1) Intensity:

The Manchester Derby lived up to the expectations of every football fan heading into the game. It was a game that was dominated by the midfield of both clubs but the most chances of the game fell to the Red Devils.

(2) Erik Ten Hag’s Game Plan

Manchester United came into the game to stop the fluid of passes to Erling Haaland. Ten Hag ensured that at least a player was man-marking Erling Haaland, this tactical move ensured that the Norwegian could not touch the ball whenever he was in Manchester United’s defensive area.

(3) Pep Guardiola Masterclass:

The Spaniard showed why he is one of the best coaches in the world by introducing Jack Grealish in the second half in place of Phil Foden. Grealish scored the opening goal of the game with less than five minutes on the pitch.

(4) Marcus Rashford:

The Englishman was coming into the game with a lot of confidence having scored eight goals in his last seven games fot Manchester United. He showed the class he was made when he scored the winning goal in the second half for the Red Devils, taking his goal tally to 16 across all competitions.

(5) VAR:

The Video Assistant Referee was the topic of conversation in the game when Bruno Fernandes scored the equalizing goal for the Red Devils. Manchester City supporters did not agree with the decision of the goal to stand because Marcus Rashford attacked the ball despite being in an offside position.
