When it comes to wealth distribution, the story is the same everywhere. In NIgeria only 400k people have up to USD10k in their account. About 0.02% of the population. Its the same in every country in the world. The minority control the largest share of wealth in the US, UK, Europe and everywhere. How the 1% want to use their power is entirely up to them.
