This is sequel to the info pushed to the frontpage. https://www.nairaland.com/7530907/tinubus-st-paul-aroloya-primary

This thread is to inform those genuinely seeking education to curb ignorance and to expose those who misinform their naive followers.

By extension, it is to avert another attempt to waste precious time on useless allegations that add no value to our democratic exercise.

Does St Paul (Anglican) School Lagos Island exist?

Yes.
The school exists.
Firstly, here is the school listed among approved primary schools in Lagos by the Lagos State Ministry of Education. https://lagosschoolsonline.com/schools/profile/1892

Secondly, there is and has always been only one St. Paul's Primary School owned by St Paul's Anglican church on Lagos Island from 1852 till today. No other St. Paul Primary school, Lagos Island, exists.

For those not familiar with the nomenclature of this kind of missionary schools in Lagos, let me enlighten you. I attended one , St Paul ( Anglican) Primary School is just like St. Paul (Catholic) Primary School, Ebute Meta (West) founded in 1902.

In Lagos, we call these schools by their name St. Paul Primary School, Aroloya, St. Paul Primary School, Ebute-Meta.

We hardly indicate Anglican or Catholic but use their location to distinguish them. Same as St. John Aroloya, St John Palmgrove etc. Similar nomenclature exists for missionary primary schools like Eleja Primary School, Mushin, Eleja Primary School, Ebute meta etc.

The differentiation by parent church is hardly emphasised even in official use so St. Paul Primary School, Aroloya is the same as St. Paul (Anglican) Primary school, Lagos Island which today is known as ST. Paul ANG. PRY SCHOOL, located on Davies st, Breadfruit, Lagos Island, Lagos.

History of the school?

First, read the official history of St. John's Nur/ Primary school from its page on the website for approved schools in Lagos. https://lagosschoolsonline.com/schools/profile/1904

St. John's Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos History

The school was founded in 1864 under a small shed. In 1870, the shed gave way to a T shape building .
On 13th May 1953 the Tshape building gave way for two-storey building and was completed on 28th seot 1954 and commissioned by Hon. Ike Nwachukwu the then Fed.Minister for education.

On the 11th Oct. 1954 the staff and pupils moved to occupy the new building. The School Motto is "NO CROSS NO CROWN " . Many Bishops of Lagos State were the product of the school.

Now read the history of St Paul Primary School, Lagos Island.

ST. PAUL'S SCHOOL History

ST. PAUL'S SCHOOL BREADFRUIT, LAGOS WAS FOUNDED IN THE YEAR 1852 BY THE ANGLICAN MISSION AND WAS NAMED AFTER ST PAUL'S CHURCH.

THE SCHOOL IS SITUATED AT No 10 DAVIES STREET BREADFRUIT LAGOS. THE EARLY HEADMASTERS OF THE SCHOOL WERE MESSRS JAMES T. WHITE, CHARLES PHILLIPS, WHILE THOSE OF LATER YEARS WERE MRS R. O ADEDOTUN AND MRS J.O AWOBAJO, THE INCUBENT HEADTEACHER OF THE SCHOOL IS MRS G.A LAWAL
THE SCHOOL HAS TWENTY-SIX CLASSROOMS OF 4 BLOCKS, WHILE THE POPULATION IS ABOUT 500 PUPILS FROM NURSERY ONE TO PRIMARY SIX. IN THE PAST YEARS

THE SCHOOL HAS WON MANY COMPETITION RANGING FROM SCIENCE TO ACADEMICS AND SPORTS. PRESENTLY THE SCHOOL IS UNDERGOING SERIES OF RENOVATION DUE TO HER OLD AGE.
https://lagosschoolsonline.com/schools/profile/1892

What can you notice from the history of these two anglican schools on Lagos Island?
These schools have gone through different phases.

When a pupil named Ahmed Bola Adekunle Tinubu had attended either St. John's Anglican Primary School , Aroloya ( now ST. JOHNS ANG. NUR/PRY SCHOOL, Aroloya) or St Paul's Anglican Primary School , Aroloya from 1958 to 1964, such pupil will still be in the category not recognised in the official foundation year of the school stated on its official emblem/ badge shown below.

That a school that started in 1852 like St. Paul's School, Lagos Island, (or St. John's school that begain in a shed 12 years later ) was officially recognised as founded in 1970 does not mean a pupil who attended it from 1958 to 1964 did not attend the school. It means an Asiwaju Tinubu will be a pupil there before the official recognition of the school as St. Paul Anglican Primary School, Lagos Island or St. John's Anglican Primary School, Lagos Island.

Conclusion

ST. PAUL PRY SCHOOL, Aroloya, Lagos Island actually exists, it is same school as ST PAUL'S ANGLICAN PRIMARY SCH, Breadfruit., Lagos Island.

Such schools abound in Lagos today.

The Chukwunweike Okafor lawyer guy who presented the case in court is not a Lagosian and obviously not familiar with Lagos school history peculiarity we Lagosians know.

St John's school founded in a shed in 1864 now indicate 1970 as its official founding year.
https://lagosschoolsonline.com/schools/profile/1904

Those who are not from Lagos will not understand and are merely expressing their ignorance if they say that someome who attended St John's before 1970 did not attend the school or that St John was not existing prior to 1970.

According to the biography of Asiwaju Tinubu, ASIWAJU: The Biography of Bolanle Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu
By Moshood Ademola Fayemiwo, PhD & Margie Neal-Fayemiwo, Ed.D. Asiwaju: The Biography of Bolanle Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu by Moshood Ademola Fayemiwo https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35874011-asiwaju wrote on page 68 of the book that young Asiwaju Tinubu attended St. John's Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos now St. John's Nursery and Primary School.

It beggars belief how and where Chukwunweike Okafor and his cohort got St. Paul Primary School. The jury is out there.

Big lie, where is the location? What is the legacy you are planning to leave for your children. No St Paul Aroloya, but St John. Please stop this nonsense because of peanut. St Paul is at Breadfruit. Anyone with St Paul Aroloya should bring their first school leaving certificate. You people that are strangers are rewriting the legacies of our forefathers.
If Tinubu was born in 1952 as he claimed, and this school was funded in 1970, it means Tinubu was 18 when he started primary. You people should be smart enough to understand it is better to keep quiet than produce more lies.

What manner of lie is this in an area I grew up.

For your info, Gani and even Keyamo then investigated and it was revealed Tinubu neither attended St John or St Paul since his name is missing in both school's register.

You think it's a mistake he removed the school from the forms he filled for his second term as governor of Lagos?

You are obvioisly not from Lagos. Go and ask where CMS college was located before or where MBHS was before their present location. The only thing permanent is the name. There is only one St. Paul on Lagos Island and whether you put Aroloya or Breadfruit, it is same St. Paul, Lagos Island.

The ipob terrorists and Igbo boys in court pushing St. Paul's Aroloya as Asiwaju's school are inept and are the one messing up your head with ignorance, hatred and bigotry because Asiwaju actually attended St. John's Primary school and not St Paul's Primary school, Lagos Island.

Aroloya is not really far from Breadfruit and they are both schools owned by Anglican church so in their lifetime, since 1852 and 1864, they will have a relationship. It is no brainer but the name remains.

St John Primary school is now St John Anglican Nur/ Pry school while St Paul Primary school is today St Paul Anglican Primary school. St John is at Aroloya while St Paul is at Davies, both Davies and Aroloya are on Lagos Island. My family owns a street just off Aroloya and Primcess so we trek from Princess to as far as Olowogbowo, Leventis and Davies street that connects main Broad street.
I am not confused. St Paul exists and in its history since 1864 may have had relationship with St John but both schools still exist on Lagos Island till date.
