Foolishbuhari: I think you are seeing the glass half full which is entirely your right. But when out of hatred for political personalities or because of an election you look only at the negatives to score points - you are frying your brain neurons. Anywhere in the world national development is not linear. There is no checklist. You don't have milestones to check off. You use your advantages and import the rest. Is the UK not having an healthcare crisis as we speak? Does that mean they should do nothing else except fix it? It's election season and everyone is behaving like a rabid dog. We all need to remember that the election does not define us and that for millions of people, the loss by their candidate will not derail their upward trajectory if they do the right things in their personal lives. Nigerian economy is not doing well and yet Nigeria is advancing. If one is not polar, one should be able to hold two contradictory statements in ones head and make sense of both of them 2 Likes |

Napata77: Sharrap, you assemble, not manufacture. Forget all that shenanigans. All the steel, eelectronic and mechanical components are sourced outside and assembled here. Show me a bicycle manufactured in Nigeria. 2 Likes 1 Share |

ComeToJesus: Ignoramus. In vehicle production, ''assembly'' and ''manufacturing'' mean the EXACT SAME THING. Not one iota of difference. In fact car manufacturing plants across the world are called ''car assembly plants''. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automotive_assembly_plants_in_the_United_States ALL vehicles are built the same way. You gather the parts from a variety of sources in and out of your country, and then ASSEMBLE them in your car plant. Nigeria is a fast rising vehicle manufacturing powerhouse, churning out tens of thousands of vehicles per annum. INNOSON Vehicle Manufacturing, IVM, sources over 75% of its components locally here in Nigeria, which means that Nigeria has genuine indigenous technical capacity in vehicle manufacturing. |

People celebrating this development probably don't know Nigeria used to assemble the Air Beetle aircrafts in the 1990s. This was also celebrated at the time as a major development in acquiring manufacturing know-how. The Nigeria Air Force announced it will put its Air Beetle training aircraft into service again, which have been out of use for over a decade. The Air Beetle is a Van RV-6A; the only kit built aircraft that is used as a military training aircraft. Searching for a suitable trainer that could be assembled in Nigeria using local labour, the Federal Government settled on the RV-6A. Van’s produced 60 kits to fulfill the order and these were assembled in Nigeria, test flown and entered service with the Nigerian Air Force in 1989 as elementary training aircraft under the name Air Beetle. The air training school is based at Kaduna and the aircraft are assembled and maintained by Dornier Aviation Nigeria (DANA). https://nigerianaviation./2010/04/09/naf-to-resurrect-the-air-beetle/ |

4Play: Blame the military regimes of that era for the lack of continuity with the Air Beetle. The 1980s and 90s were politically unstable periods in Nigeria, a place where military coups overturned everything the previous regime was doing. We are in a very different era now, and there is far more accountability for projects. |

Re: Nigeria Begins Aircraft Production by nedekid: 7:10am On Jan 23, 2023 |
Foolishbuhari:Dont mind the mumu man, aka "Mr use your brain". Indomi generation kids that know nothing. Way back babangidas time dornier aviation assembled the air beetle. I think they also assembled the dornier 228, 19 passenger aircraft. Serika, Mr Air Nigeria has been known to exaggerate things. In this case, they order kit trainer aircraft from hungry. They cannot be brought in fully assembled for obvious reasons as they are kits. If I buy one today, I will have to assemble it at home or pay someone to. That is why it is cheap to buy. So Nigeria buy the kit and trains it staff to assemble it or sets up a company as a contractor (paddy paddy arrangement) to assemble them. |
