🐪🌍 The struggle for the African continent and its geopolitical perspective

⏺🇷🇺 On January 23, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will begin an African tour that will include several countries.

Lavrov will visit 🇿🇦South Africa, Eswatini, 🇧🇼Botswana and 🇦🇴Angola. He will then go to North Africa in February to visit 🇹🇳Tunisia, 🇲🇷Mauritania, 🇩🇿Algeria and 🇲🇦Morocco. However, the exact number of countries to be visited is still unknown.

As part of his tour, the Russian Foreign Minister will also visit the headquarters of the African Union.

South Africa's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor will receive his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on January 23 for bilateral talks and discussions on common issues.

⏺🇺🇸 On the other hand, the American ambassador is going to Africa as part of the Biden delegation.

US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield is the second cabinet member to go to Africa as part of President Joe Biden's major effort to engage in Africa.

The US mission to the UN said it will travel to 🇬🇭Ghana, 🇲🇿Mozambique and 🇰🇪Kenya beginning January 25 "to reaffirm and strengthen partnerships with key current and former members of the UN Security Council".

Thomas-Greenfield's visit followed Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen's 10-day visit to Africa last week.
