Even right now we are manufacturing and exporting fertiliser to India, Brazil, and the United States, from the 2.5 billion dollar fertiliser plant in Lekki which is part of the refinery.

First African country to manufacture and export fertilisers to the world. Normally it is them sending to us.

The deal with the Dangote refinery is that due to proximity of the buyers (ie in Nigeria, and West, and Central Africa), the company stands to make huge profits even while selling cheap. Petroleum products have always cost a fortune because of the cost of shipping them from foreign regions like Europe, the Middle East and America.

Dangote cannot sell at the same price as those foreign sources, or there will be no buyers. They will simply stick to their current suppliers. His Unique Selling Point (USP) is high quality, low priced petrol and petroleum products.

But there ARE alternatives. The buyers he's trying to attract are not starved of sources of supply. What he brings to the table is low price. He cannot play the greedy monopolist in the oil and gas market which has so many suppliers.

Ghanas economy is being a systematically destroyed buy the West because the Ghanaians decided to charge more for their Cocoa. That's the reason. The chocolate industry is a huge money spinning segment of the western economy that keeps countries like Switzerland making billions yearly! Switzerland make billions of dollars more from Cocoa produced in West Africa than Ghana and Cote de voir, because they're the ones that basically add value to the product. The West African countries revolted recently and asked for better payments..

The Western companies refused and Ghana decided to get some Chinese firms to help them start producing their own chocolates to rival the ones produced in the West. This way, they would have controlled the whole chain from growing the product to final production of the main chocolates! Immediately they came up with this idea, the monetary sanctions from the West started trickling in and Ghanas economy have been screaming ever since. This is how African states fail! But we are always eager to blame some local Political characters rather than confront a racist western foreign policy construct that has designated a whole continent as a slave camp!

Of course it will be cheap because there is no high transportation cost from shipping petroleum products from US, Europe etc.

In fact the whole of West Africa is just waiting with bated breath for the refinery to start operations, so they can make Nigeria their Number 1 source of petrol and petroleum products.

Great points. Africa can combat this by exposing it to the whole world via all available media, and presenting it as Economic Warfare against the continent. Because that is exactly what it is.

Make it PUBLIC via the African Union or something.

Go to the UN and speak as ONE Africa.

Present documentary evidence showing this massive western conspiracy against Africa, in a huge public campaign, which can be very powerful in this age of social media.
