City & Crime learnt that the leader of the bandits, who raided Azara, Janjala and Kadara communities in Kaduna State on December 12, 2022, and kidnapped 37 people, asked the relatives of the victims to return the old naira notes when they brought them for ransom payment.

Instead, he ordered for foodstuff, drugs and wine before freeing two nursing mothers and three men among the abducted 11 people from Azara community in Kachia LGA.

A relative to one of the victims, Haruna Shuaibu, confirmed the release of the two women and three men through a telephone chat with our reporter on Wednesday.

He explained that family members and relatives of the victims raised N5.3m for the bandits, but that money was rejected by their leader when he discovered that it was in old naira notes.

He said, β€œLast week the families and relatives of the victims struggled to raise the ransom. And upon taking the ransom to them, their leader rejected it, saying it was in old naira notes which would soon cease to be legal tender and ordered that the family should use the money to buy foodstuff and drugs for them.”

He further said that the relatives returned with the money and bought foodstuff, hard drugs and cartons of wine before some of them were set free on Saturday.

Shuaibu added that the remaining victims were still in captivity as the bandits had insisted on collecting new naira notes from their family members.

There was no response from the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command over the development.

We can't wait for a new government to put an end to this. Just imagine the confidence. What is our security doing?, they should be able to work with the family of the victims to arrest the kidnappers. It's well with Nigeria

Insecurity has grown exponentially during Buhari's Era. It's very saddening. Kaduna has become a breeding ground for terrorism, kidnapping and murder. Yet the governor, El Rufai, is still strutting about. Very pathetic situation.

And the same APC has the galls to try and foist another balablu presidential candidate on us.

The fact that Tinubu has the galls to accuse HIS own party means a whole lot. It points to the decadence of morals that many people have.

APC has seen that their usual false promises won't work. Light, fuel, Good schools, no ASUU strike, Good roads...nobody cares about those anymore. We want a total overhaul of the government.

They've tried several smear campaigns against PO, and it has failed woefully.

And God being so kind has sent confusion into the camp of the enemies. The Bible says, "A kingdom divided against itself shall not stand". APC is divided against itself already.πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who would have been the best presidential candidate, was ousted because of greed and selfishness. Now they shall all dance to the discordant beats of their drums.

Haq haq haqπŸ€£πŸ˜…πŸ€£

Good

Nigeria should be first country in history to phase out old currency from circulation in one month.. πŸ˜ƒ

The ripple effect from the negative and positive should be unprecedented too.

Isn't it amazing that people who said they won't vote Tinubu because of Buhari's failures and now praising the failures of Buhari.

So do you hate Buhari's failures or you just want a reason to hate Tinubu? 😁

They will kill the captives and that is it. Where do they expect them to get new naira notes? Something that is more scarce than dollars.

This is sad. A great country turned into confusion because of sinister interests, else why would bandits be so daring, even displaying they know deeply what will happen with the deadline for old naira notes (i.e. no extension).

grin As long as APC states are the only ones suffering the consequences of their stupidity, I'm okay. My only wish is that the APC urchins on Nairaland get to taste first hand the kind of thing their wretched poverty stricken followers are experiencing.

Ridiculous propaganda story. They just want to rubbish the idea that the naira policy will reduce the spate of kidnapping and terrorism in the North.

Funny country....

As a kidnapper in America, in less than 72hrs, they will track you down.

Nigerian government is not ready to work, all because the elites/politicians are the ones sponsoring these groups below.

Bandits
Unknown gunmen
Kidnappers
Terrorist

They make billions of naira from these organisations
