Obasanjo lead Government blocked the creation of LCDAs in Lagos, how can you think a paltry 20LGA in a populated State like Lagos is enough to bring governance to the masses.,the grassroot....When, Kano State at that time have 44 LGA  Lagos went ahead to create additional LCDA to bridge this huge gap...and the results of that action, despite wickedly denying them of the 20 LGA allocation, was the best.... It opens up Lagos. You can say whatever you like, who built Lagos or not...but, bringing governance to the grassroots was one of the best legacy of Tinubu administration 11 Likes 1 Share |

I laugh each time people brag that Tinubu financed and ran lagos LGAs and LCDAs for years without receiving a single LG allocation from the FG. Lagos can survive without any allocation from the federal government. This is a fact you guys should take home. Money generated from licence renewal of millions of vehicles in lagos annually alone is huge. I'm not even talking of transportation and revenues from lands and housing. What of taxes paid by corporate headquarters and oil and gas in Lagos? Revenues from shop owners and market men and women nko? Lagos alone is richer than the entire north. In the 80s, for those who were around that time, pa jakande built the then largest housing estate in Africa without borrowing. Lagos had always been rich. Yet, he declared budget surplus. If not the Buhari's coup, he'd have completed the lagos literail in 8 years as promised then. Where did you think baba jakande was getting that money from? If a dundee becomes lagos governor, even if all he does is go to work, sign papers and leave, people would still say he performed after his tenure cos some measures have been there to make him perform, from time immemorial. Same literail jakande would have completed in 8 years is what they've been using to campaign since 1999. Even till now, it's noise everywhere cos election is approaching. That thing won't start anytime soon cos there's still alot that needs to be done. Buhari only came here to commission couches not the rail. We can't be deceived again. Someone can Insult me for all I care . Ambode did so much and still declared budget surplus in lagos. Had he not blocked Tinubu, would he have achieved so much? They said he's not a democrat and that's why he was removed. If stealing is their understanding of being a democrat, we don't need one in Lagos. They said he abandoned Tinubu's legacy...which legacy? He came and even bought more BRT buses than those bought by his predecessor and made oshodi interchange a tourist attraction. They keep saying Tinubu raised lagos IGR...government is a continuum. He did his bits and left, the way his predecessors did. The question you should be asking those making that noise is, what was the exchange rate before he became governor when lagos was generating IGR in millions and the rates when tinubu came and IGR became billions? In the 80s/early 90s, If you were a millionaire, the whole world must recognise you. Today, there are billionaires everywhere. Millions of naira generated by Lagos before Tinubu came were worth more than billions they claim they're generating today. Every reasonable economist should know. The exchange rate of the 80s/90s isn't the same today. Marwa performed far more than him in Lagos yet, the man didn't brag unlike Tinubu. Agbegbaorogboye: While it's unnecessary to argue the huge impact of the "patronage and revenue collection" you tried to downplay the significance in boosting Lagos overall IGR...I will pick an aspect, Health...the Primary Health Care.. All Lagos State LCDAs run multiple primary health centers, that were built by LCDA administartors and run by them under the supervision of Lagos State Ministry of Health. The significance of these is so huge that most of these primary health centers beats many other states general hospitals in Nigeria...attending to millions of patients in Lagos for years now...the very less privileged who are using these facilities, especially, the Mother and Child care, cannot overemphasized the impacts of these initiatives. Not to mention schools, roads built by these LCDAs.. LCDAs championed projects in various parts of Lagos State are online..you can check them. Just imagine these are not in place..can the Lagos State General Hospital cater for huge population of Lagosians I am not saying the government have covered all grounds, no, I am saying creation of these LCDAs brought governance to grassroots to a large extent. If they are not created, I can't imagine what Lagos State will look like now. 2 Likes |

adioolayi:You're lying. There's general hospital in every LG of Lagos which is run by the state. PHCs were basically an idea of FG through the NPHCDA and all wards in Nigeria have PHCs so it's not unique to Lagos. IGR is being collected by alpha beta on behalf of the state. The ones collected by LCDAs using agberos are mainly looted and unaccounted for. There was an exposé by Punch on that issue recently. Which schools were built by LCDAs. Go to most LCDA offices and what you'll meet are many touts with few staff. 1 Like |
