Growth is the most important part of life both for humans and animals. It is the transition from childhood to adulthood. In recent times debates have sprang up on whether the Gene is the determinant or if it's the child's Nutrition.

The Gene contains inheritable traits that can be transformed from parents to offspring which includes the physiological aspects like blood grouping and also the morphological traits like height and size which falls under "growth". Nutrition is only but what we eat and how rich in nutrient it is. So how do they corelate in respect to growth. Keep reading to find out:

Since the Gene is concerned with inheritable traits from parents, a child with a tall dad and an average mum, or a tall mum with an average dad is expected to be more than average heighted. When the child grows tall is it only the Gene factor? Or when the child is shorter than expected is it still a Gene factor? Nutrition provides the body with the right amount of nutrients to fuel these activities like protein aids in body building and growth. In regards to this, a child with a tall Gene and a poor diet/Nutrition would not reach his height potential, or it'll be a very slow process just like we see malnourished children growing and maturing slowly in comparison to their mates. Nutrition determines how fast and not how far a child grows because a child with a short Gene and a healthy diet would still be less than average but would reach his height potential faster, even growing faster than a child with a tall Gene and a poor diet.

In summary to all of this, the Gene and Nutrition factor are relative. While Nutrition determines how fast a child reaches his growth potential, the Gene determines the growth potential of that child
