YPP Govt Will Focus On Infrastructure, Agriculture and Tourism In Uruan’, says OBA
Women To Be Empowered Through Cooperatives; Youths To Enjoy Jobs, Skills Training and Scholarships
To Create Cluster for Boats And Other Equipment To Aid Fishing, Water Transportation.
Disturbed by the wide-spread dearth of basic amenities in Uruan, the governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Obong Bassey Albert, CON, says infrastructure, agriculture and tourism development will top his agenda for the area, as governor.
He was addressing the masses in Southern Uruan Wards 4,5,6; Central Uruan Wards 1,2,3
as well as Northern Uruan Wards 1 & 2 virtually, on January 3-, 2023, during the second phase of YPP ward-to-ward campaign.
Through Operation Basic Amenities (OBA), the senator promised to revitalise Ishiet Beach and the corresponding businesses; construct roads and ensure massive renovation of public schools healthcare facilities.
While the tourist centres are to be upgraded to international standard to attract foreign visitors, fish processing facilities are also to be established towards post-harvest processing and storage of sea foods.
OBA also pledged to focus on agriculture and education in Uruan by establishing fish processing facilities as well as create a cluster for boats and other equipments to aid water transportation. He said he will address the present condition of education in the entire state, including Uruan, by upgrading schools as well as recruiting adequate personnel to close the current teacher-to-pupil gap of 1:114, which is against the standard of the Universal Basic Education (UBE).
"YPP has come to wipe your tears, clean your sorrows. A vote for YPP is a vote for freedom and liberation of Akwa Ibom. A vote for YPP is a vote for prosperity for Akwa Ibom people. By August this year, our women will be given money to do business, to farm. YPP will create roads for you. We will ensure not less than 50 kilometers of roads in each local government", OBA assured.
Wife of the gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Imaobong Albert, while addressing the crowd of supporters, said the time for people to freely elect their leaders has come, while urging them to vote for her husband.
"Now is your time and now is my time. This is an opportunity that God has given to Uruan to take what is rightly theirs. God has heard the cries of Akwa Ibom people, that is why he has brought the YPP. YPP is on assignment to wake up a sleeping people, to let them know that God has given them an opportunity. It has also done another assignment to have brought you credible candidates. This is the time that we should vote wisely. This is the time we should vote carefully. This is the time to vote for credible candidates. OBA has represented you well. He has done well from when he was commissioner, and now he has come to say he wants to be governor", she said.
Mrs. Albert said that her husband will empower youths, boost commercial activities for women, sponsor the youths in schools as well was pay them bursaries. She charged them to vote for YPP for such programmes to be realized.
"There will be massive renovation, revamping and structuring of healthcare facilities within one kilometer radius under my husband's government. He will set up cooperatives and empower our women with money to do business because he knows that if he empowers women, he has empowered homes. This is the time for you to rise with your PVC to vote and ensure your votes count".
Also speaking, wife of the deputy governorship candidate, Mrs. Janet Amba, promised to support all good programmes initiated for the welfare of the people
"On behalf of my husband, the YPP, my boss, the first lady, I want to tell you that it is time to fight for your destiny. In a couple of weeks, let us go out to vote for Senator Bassey Albert. I will support the incoming First Lady to ensure that what is due Uruan, especially women, is given to them all", Mrs. Amba promised.
Chairman of Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Council, Sir Emem Akpabio, who described OBA as a child of destiny, said he remains the only one competent and compassionate enough to solve the problems of the masses. He also encouraged Uruan people to ask questions concerning the Mexican cows they were promised over five years ago.
"A destiny child is coming with his Operation Basic Amenities (OBA) to give you roads, water, good health, education. OBA has done more for us. For 20 years, the PIB (Petroleum Industry Bill) was not passed, but with OBA, it was very possible. When he was a commissioner, remember what he was doing, everywhere felt his impact through InterMinisterial projects. As a banker, at 30 years, he became the vice president of his bank. Uruan needs deliverance and OBA has what it takes to deliver you", he said.
Sir Akpabio mocked the former PDP governorship candidate for shying away from the well organized governorship debate held last Sunday, saying, "you went to court and said you have certificate, but you were asked to come and have discussion with other candidates, you absconded".
Apostle Nyeneime Andy, chairman of YPP in Akwa Ibom State, enlightened the people on how to vote for the YPP candidates. He said a vote for YPP is a vote for change, promising that the YPP government will address their social and economic neglects.
Apostle Andy said the YPP Government will initiate Rural Electrification Projects to link more communities to the National Grid. He also said that the government will embark on massive renovation, revamping and structuring of healthcare facilities.
While setting the tone for the rally, the Director General of Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Organization, Pastor Sunny Ibuot who appreciated God for a clement weather, said the entire campaign council was happy with the people of Uruan for the support they have so far given to OBA and other YPP candidates.
"OBA is someone who has been used by God to bless others. He has turned youths to men. He is very qualified, with good certificates to display any time. A commissioner for more than eight years, chairman of inter ministerial direct labour coordinating committee, whose posts he used to revamp our moribund schools. The president identified with him and honoured him with CON as the best Senator. I am asking you to stand with him, he will link up all the areas of Uruan", Pastor Ibuot assured.
While Pastor Bassey Isin, chairman of Akwa Ubok Abasi in Uruan, earlier in his welcome address, said the entire Uruan people have taken the decision to go the YPP way, he regretted that his people have really suffered in the hands of the present PDP government.
Similarly, Hon. Emmanuel Edemeka, one of the political leaders in Uruan as well as Mr Malachy Bassey, chairman of all ward chairmen of YPP in Uruan, said the YPP is the party to win in Uruan, and urged to people embrace it for a new Akwa Ibom.
